Visited on a solo tour in Nov 2021. I heard a lot that this place is for families, honeymooners and senior citizens to relax and enjoy at leisure. Actually Temi is for everyone, even solo travelers and adventure seekers. Full sightseeing of the tea gardens includes a tea factory tour, tea tasting, ziplining, paragliding, mountain biking and more. You need 1 night stay here at a minimum. Pro tip: Choose Cherry Resort as your hotel and don't miss out on the breakfast in the morning from their rooftop cafe. Thank me later!

Awestruck by the beauty of the tea garden and definitely a must visit to the heritage Bada Bungalow, The Temi Bungalow within the temi tea garden estate itself. Its cottages and beautiful bungalow rooms has its own charm and vintage feel. The snow capped mountain peaks of the Mt. Kanchenjunga is a breathtaking view from its deck.

On our way from Gangtok to Namchi, we have to pass through a place called TEMI, and this is a place where we find TEA plantations abundantly. I am from South of India and have seen similar tea plantations in Ooty and other places. TEMI is no different. The weather was quite pleasant and we stopped for a moment to take some pics.

We stayed at Cherry Resort, the only available place at Temi Tea Garden for 3 nights and our experience was not a nice one. The view from the resort was very nice. You actually get to see Kanchenjunga on one side and tea plantations on the other but it was very foggy and cloudy so we missed the view. But the rooms and the service of the hotel is pathetic. When we visited in March the regular staff were not there and they had hired school students as trainees. Food was very bad. Intercom was not working so everytime we wanted something we had to go down to call. The tea garden is nice and the walk up the hill to a small restaurant is very refreshing. But if you want to visit Temi Tea Garden just go there for a day and dont stay there. Quality of breakfast was very bad- whether AluParathas or Bread and Eggs, we had to tell them in advance and still then wait for it. The amount we paid as tariff does not justify the service and the kind of rooms they have. Very bad experience.

Far away from Pelling, and closer to Namchi, Temi Tea Garden is not only the sole Tea Garden of Sikkim, but it is truly a visual treat for the Nature Lovers. Although my plans to visit Temi was not planned one, but I had decided, that if possible, then Temi would definitely be on my travel cards..and I'm happy that I didn't miss it. The weather was absolutely misty, foggy, cloudy and chilly on the day when we reached Temi, sometime in the afternoon from Pelling, in a hired car. However, the views were awesome. The plantation is lined by tall trees with mauve-colored flowers on one side, and the metaled road turned sharply and parted the garden in two halves....It is a spectacular scenery, to be precise. There is a small restaurant overlooking the garden that serves Chinese dishes hot and steaming, and the food is of top quality.
For photographers, nothing can possibly be better than this amazingly quiet and peaceful place where only Nature reigns. Take some time out of your busy schedule if you are visiting, Pelling, Ravangla or Namchi, and do visit this beautiful Tea garden, that produces Tea, which is famous all over the world for its quality. However, nowadays there are also resorts where one may stay and relish the Tea garden's beauty.
And one more thing, if you so wish to get hold of some Tea-leaves from this beautiful garden, please note that, you'll not get it from the garden itself, as there are no such counters. You may buy the Temi Tea from M.G. Marg in Gangtok. You may also visit the factory where the tea is actually processed and made ready for consumption.
So, that is the Temi Tea Garden below the Tendong hill. A retreat for the soul in its entirety.

This is one of quitest place and beautiful scenic view of nature. The only hotel is Cherry Resort (27.232328,88.414471 cordinate in Google Map). The village Temi is 7-8 kilometers away in east and Damthang is about 5-6 kilometer in west. Gangtok is 60 KM away. One must visit Namchi (Char Dham - 27.152835,88.341129) & Ravangla (Buddha Park - 27.31329,88.363552).
The Resort is owned by Sikkim Tourism Department, Govt of Sikkim and leased to private party to operate. The staffs are mostly local people and friendly. However they are not professional. The basic facility is lodging and fooding. The service quality is low and food quality and taste is okay.
The scenic beauty of this place is fantastic. One will enjoy the most, if the Resort service & quality is ignored.

I totally agree with Purba whose review was of March 2013, about the state of affairs at Cherry Resort, even after 3 years, and in tourist season of October.
Location is 10/10
Property/Building is 9/10
Maintenance is 3/10
Comfort and amenities 2/10 (no intercom, not even basic things like blanket, pillow, towel, soap etc. which had to asked for, and then too arranged for after several reminders, and even so the pillows and all were very dirty)
Food is 2/10; we suspected recycled food and the served pieces of chicken were like gizzards and neck and fat mostly.
Staff is 3/10 (smiling, but totally nonchalant, no idea of service, not any regular trained staff but untrained students from nearby villages.) Incidentally, will like to say that many resorts of considerable fame in Sikkim run on an eco-sustainable setup, where local youth are trained and employed in these resorts, to help the nearby villages. However, due to the alert private ownership of these places, they are very efficiently maintained places as I have experienced. My idea of Sikkim tourism received its first jolt in Cherry Resort. Will always suggest people to visit Cherry once, simply because there is no other way to experience the wonderful world of Temi, but don't plan a long stay.

If you like snaps (nature and yours both).. You will love this place. There isnt anything to do here apart from taking pics and enjoy the mesmerizing view of mountains.
It is from from Gangatok and takes approx. 3 hours. Its on the way to Namchi. We halted at the uppermost mountain/garden curve, which gives the best view. There is a restaurant which offers tea and snacks which can be tried to have a taste of Temi tea garden.
Some of the views are really beautiful. You can get the gardener/sikkimise attire on rent to pose/snaps. Which is worth, you can try. They charge 50rs.

An eye soothing environment will grasp you once entering the Temi tea Garden. On our way to Pelling, we covered the place. Greenery at its best could be seen alongside with nature's beauty. Indeed a great place to remember.

Temi Tea Garden is just 18 Km from Ravangla in South Sikkim. Initially I had crossed out the plan of visiting Temi as I had already visited a number of Tea gardens in West Bengal and kerala to last me a lifetime. But from the moment we came to Sikkim everyone was suggesting to visit Temi. An elderly lady at the M.G Marg in Gangtok told us to visit it for sure and also told us that she ran a school for the local kids nearby. She said it so sweetly that the plan was made then and there.
The Temi Tea Garden was established in 1969 by the Government of Sikkim and is the lone Tea garden of Sikkim. The Estate spreads out on a moderate hill slope along the highway. It also touches the bottom of Tendong Hill of West Sikkim. The 435 acres of unending green beauty leaves the tourist asking for more.
During the entire journey to Temi Garden, we were mesmerized by the unfolding series of picturesque landscapes, fresh mountain air and sailing cream-like clouds. The tall Pine (Dhupi) trees on either side of the road leading to the Tea Estate gives a character to the place. During Autumn the Cherry trees start to bloom along the lines of the estate. The floral explosion of colours are majestic in true sense, but we were not fortunate enough to see it.
The entire span of the garden cannot be seen from the road alone, one has to walk inside it to experience it fully. We stepped into the Estate and was awestruck by the sheer beauty and simplicity of the surroundings.Short concrete steps lead into the Tea Garden. The Tea bushes span on either side of the steps. White prayer flags lined the steps. The presence of prayer flags in a Tea garden induced a spiritual atmosphere all around. Visitors are not allowed to walk elsewhere inside the garden, they have a designated viewpoint till which they can walk down. From one end of the garden one can get a very clear view of Kanchenjunga but we were as usual unfortunate.
The garden is fully organic and produces one of the finest teas in the world. The original tea bushes had been brought from Darjeeling. But cultivation in a different climate and process imparted a distinct taste to Temi Tea. There are different quality of tea produced by Temi. The golden flowery orange pekoe is the best quality . Next comes the popular brand of 'Sikkim Solja' followed by 'Mystique' and 'Kanchanjunga Tea'. It is also sold in the form of dust tea. If brewed in the right way Temi tea gives a delicate but rich flavor, complex bouquet, and beautiful reddish-amber color almost like that of lemon tea. Temi has a high demand in the international market, hence most of the best quality tea is exported some specific qualities are sold in Kolkata market.
The Tea garden has a restaurant outside which serves snacks and tea. We ordered milk tea which had a repelling burnt milk flavor and tasted really bad. This made us question whether we made a right choice by buying so many packets of Temi Tea from Ravangla and also deterred us from buying more from the estate outlet shop. But when we prepared the tea back home it was really something to die for. My grandma commented that after tasting the Temi tea she wouldn't be able to enjoy any other tea.

Can you please suggest me a good hotel/ resort which is located in temi tea garden?
Written 26 January 2020
Cherry Resort is in the tea estate itself.
Nice place. It is a government property, being run privately by a local. Rooms are nice and spacious but not luxurious. Food is good and service is excellent. Views are superb. Take the garden facing rooms.
Otherwise you can look at hotels in Namchi town. It is about 20 kms from the tea estate.

Can anyone give me details about the new launch of paragliding and biking at Temi? I am interested in the local mountain biking at Temi. I read the news but couldn't get where to contact. Please provide me the details. I would be visiting in the first week of May.

There is no paragliding at Temi Tarku. It would be in Gangtok and Kalimpong. Worth checking with Denzong leisure
