amazing experience of view between sea and cliff. clear sea water. fill with fish and coral. nice spot to swim, dive and fishing. white beach sand. far away from crowd. beauty

It took almost 5 hours to reach to the paradise from Ambon (exclude time for taking rest or lunch). So be prepared. Eat first (breakfast or lunch) after arriving in Amahai harbor (Masohi), because it is the last town to find good restaurant. Buy also some snacks and coffee in sachet or else, because Ora resort just provides strong coffee (Kapal Api, which is a favourite one for Indonesian)). Do not forget in Masohi to buy Telkomsel sim card (the only operator which has signal in Ora beach) if you need to communicate or socializing via cellular.After passing Masohi, we find lush green forest for around 2 hours driving.
When it is the season of durian, we can buy some cheap durians jatuhan (rp 10,000/pc) along the way to the north part of Seram island. Or we can buy some rambutan or langsat (duku) as well. It is also interesting to see some trees that are not familiar to us such as durian, rambutan, pala (nutmeg), clove, avocado, banana, etc. Make sure you have the battery of camera and or mobile phone fully charged. Otherwise you will miss some interesting objects along the way or upon arrival at the resort.
The farther room from the jetty is the quieter one. Bring some cable extension if you need to charge more than one gadget Electricity (from the generator) is available on 6 pm through 6 am. Try to fill the bucket with water because the outflow volume of water tap is little. No water heater is available. The water is fresh. It is better to buy some bottled mineral water for your spare drink in the room. Your snack might invites some ants, Put them in a sealed container.Or it them up after you open the packaging. The room has no safety box for your valuables. Simply close the door.
Opening window and door of verandah during night time was not a problem for me. It let the breeze get into the room. Fan is available on the desk in case you need.
The signal of telkomsel only shows one or two bars. So it was not easy to upload some photos to the social media but I found no problem in communicating through mobile. Lying down on the mattress or sofa in the verandah is relaxing. From the verandah , feeding the fish with bread was so fun, but may be it could generate pollution to the sea water and creature with the chemical content of the food.
Staying for 3 or 5 days are enjoyable. Reading, fishing, snorkel, diving, exploring Air Belanda, sun bathing, playing sand, games are activities we can do. Do not forget to bring, goggles, fin or fishing rod, bait, underwater camera etc, because they do not provide it.
A trip to other island to buy lobster or to view other attraction is also an option.
Pay attention to the itinerary they gave to you not to miss the trip to air Belanda and to Tebing Batu.
It's better consult with the management for arranging the time to go back to Ambon especially if you have a plane schedule to catch. So that they can prepare the boat, mini bus and buy the Ferry ticket. Every Sunday the Ferry has only one trip from Amahai to Tulehu. Do not miss it.
Recently a local just built a hut beside Air Belanda which sells coffee, fried banana and cigarette etc . So we can spend more time in Air Belanda without worrying about lacking of food.

The positive reviews I've read are very accurate and I won't repeat the same comments. One tip is to wear swimming boots when snorkelling. I noticed what seemed to be a stonefish. Several people in our group suffered cuts to their feet or stings from sea creatures. A lot of the coral in close by locations has been damaged, and I noticed what seemed to be one crown of thorns starfish.
Ora is a paradise. The amenities were adequate and irrelevant in comparison to the overall experience. I would only stay there for perhaps 5 days as there is the danger that I would take the wonderful views for granted after a while. The fresh water river mentioned in one review is actually a fresh water spring. The "river" is actually only about 75 metres long and originates from several locations at the base of the mountain.
Take powdered milk as the only milk available for breakfast or coffee/tea is tinned sweetened condense milk. Coffee saches were also useful as a break from the strong coffee powder provided.
If you are offered a tour to see bats (flying foxes), bear in mind that the jetty through the mangroves is derelict and you will need to stumble your way through the mangrove swamp to see them. I was wearing good swimming foot protection and this saved my feet from being spiked by broken mangrove roots. My light footed guide however walked easily bare foot.

We arrived at 10.30 pm after 10h trip from ambon : no food.... then we spent 4 days. For sure the landscape is amazing. Black mountains,chrystal ocean,colors corail, thousand diff fishes.... but a hudge lack of service. I don t speak about 5* service but only the minimum you can expect. The food is a real nightmare with poor rice 3 time a day.... if you go there bring your own food.

It took you much determination to visit Ora, and it requires you much more determination to leave
Ora. Located in Far East Indonesia, Seram Island Maluku (local people called it Masohi), Ora is divine destination for beach crawler.
Fly to Ambon, then take 2 hour boat to Masohi, continue with 3 hours ride to Saleman to reach Ora.
Ora Resort at the moment is the only resort in the region. Price is reasonable and dont worry aboutthe food as it meets most people choice.
Scenery in Ora is magnificent, a place where you can climb the cliff, jump directly to the sea, then do the snorkling on the coral.
I would recommend you to stay at least three nights so you can make and earn the most in Ora.

An incredible 3-day stay at the Ora Eco beach resort with 2 other girlfriends. Scenery was breathtaking, clear ocean to greet you every morning and a comfortable bed to sleep on. The coral was beautiful, hotel staffs were friendly, and we got to buy fresh lobster too! Really want to come back soon.

A very secluded paradise. The journey to get there itself is a story of its own. You need to fly to ambon, drive for 45 minutes to Tulehu port, followed by and 1.5 hour boat ride to Amahai in Seram island, another 2 hour drive through the winding roads to Saleman village which is the closest village to ora beach. From there you can see the Ora beach resort, which is just a 5 minute boat ride away. We booked a package with the resort which included airport transfer, pre arranged boat tours and meals. Not that you have much other choice. There's practically nothing there besides the resort. If you're searching for serenity this is the place for you. Upon reaching the resort you are guaranteed to forget about the long journey you had endured. We booked the floating cottages which were beautifully set up and surrounded by hills. Plenty of good snorkeling spots, we even jumped straight into the water from our cottage balcony, from where corals are clearly visible. Do be careful should you decide to do this, so as not to land on the corals. The area to the left of the floating cottages is absolutely beautiful for snorkeling. Not many guests venture out towards this direction so you would pretty much have the area to yourself. Another good snorkeling spot is by the jetty, where we spotted 2 big clownfishes. Meals, which include evening snacks are ok, always had fish and chicken in every meal. The staff at the dining area are nice, they saved some evening snacks for us knowing that we were away on a boat tour when they were served. Electricity is only available from 6 pm to 6 am. But not a problem for is as we were out on boat tours or snorkeling during the day. One word of caution when booking their tour package. Do check and ensure that you get what you've paid for. We arranged an additional boat tour to Pulau Tujuh, which is not part of their standard tour. As such this came at an additional cost of Rp 1.2 million considering the distance. However on the day we were supposed to go we were told by our boatman that we were unable to, since there had been an ongoing conflict with the local community there. He then offered an alternative tour to Pulau Raja, which turned out to be nothing extraordinary and quite close to the resort, hence we believed that it was not worth the additional amount we had paid. On the drive back to Amahai we learnt from our driver that there was actually no such conflict with the locals at Pulau Tujuh and our boatman basically made that story up out of his laziness, given the distance of the island. Not really sure who's telling the truth and who's not, nevertheless should you decide to book a tour to Pulau Tujuh, so ensure that you get it. If they insist on rerouting you to Pulau Raja, the least you can do is renegotiate on the price. Other than this negative experience, everything else was wonderful!

I would have given this resort a mere 3 stars if it wasn't for the location - it is really truly magnificent. At the same time, 5 stars seems irrational, as one cannot dismiss some of the downsides... (Although if it had slightly better sunsets (over the sea, for example)), it might have gotten 5!)
I normally travel to Indonesia to SCUBA-dive - which I had done in nearby Ambon in this case - at Ora Beach there are no such facilities, but being limited to snorkel was by no means a let-down - in fact, I spent many, many hours in the water, as the reef was quite superb. South-west, past the cottages on stilts, the land narrows before becoming a cliff, and underwater the reef top narrows too, ending in a cliff going down deeper that I can get to. On the north-eastern side the reef top widens, ending in a similar drop-off. The fish life is really good - parrotfish of various species were particularly abundant, and while there is some coral damage, most of it looked rather pristine. Unlike on SCUBA where an hour or so is the norm, being able to spend this much time in clean, clear, calm water, was a joy. I even took my U/W camera on my snorkels, and with clear waters, got some rather nice pics.
At low tide the walk along the beach (terminated by sheer cliffs eventually) was delightful as well, with palm trees overhanging the beach in true tropical dream-style. Really nice.
That is the good part, now about the bad: the resort itself.
As others have commented, the resort is Eco only in name - the piles of garbage strewn around (even if somewhat sorted in bottles, cans, and so on) is simply unpleasant, and indeed, shower water goes straight in the sea - although I doubt with so few people staying there at any one time that it will make any impact.
What is worse is that the resort needs some deep TLC - things don't work (fans, lamps), chairs and loungers miss cushions, taps are loose, wires messily visible, even the planks on the walk-ways were loose. From a distance it looks great, look closer, and there's much to complain about.
The restaurant (if one can call it that), needs an equal amout of work to make it look attractive again. Food was on the border of not being enough - it was simple fare, mostly quite delicious, but just not enough, and unless you were in the queue early, you might miss out. For some odd reason they also don't bother bringing in snacks and drinks from the nearby village - they could make some serious money selling that!
That said, is all that so bad? Well, not really - this isn't a resort which caters for western standards, as most people were local Indonesians, and compared to other "local" places I've stayed in Indonesia, this was quite a bit better - standards differ. I'm not sure what we paid (it was included in a trip price), but from what I saw, the price wasn't steep - and anything better would have pushed the price up substantially.
So, if you are not paying 5 stars, don't expect 5 stars, but rather go with the flow, accept that there are many rough edges, but do not hessitate to go there for the scenery - just the trip from Sawai by boat here, past tall vertical cliffs, is awesome. Then just spend the time in the water, go up the beach a bit, and enjoy a really nice piece of this planet.
If you can, take some snacks, bottled water or cool drinks (note: no fridge - power is on at night only, generator-sourced...), cookies and so on, and you'll be more than happy here. If all fails, you can take a boat and buy some in the little town opposite, or Sawai.
For me the bottom line was: I was loathe to leave - and that given the downsides, says a lot about the upsides!

I went there with 1 Friend and joined with 7 new friends for 4 days 5 nights tour, the travel arranged by Yudi, easy going and a very responsible travel freelancer. Yes the trip took 7 Hours with combination of car-ferry-car-10mnt small boat from Ambon airport, but the roads condition are good and the car provided were Innova/Avanza with good condition. since Ora Only have about 6 beach Bungalow, 1 sea house (3rooms and small plain living room if I'm not mistaken) you might be on waiting list (well there are about 4 hanging rooms near the Beach but the beach Bungalow is much worthy with diff Only about IDR 100-200K) but don't let It stop u, u can spent 1 night at homestay in Sawai village. It has 8-10 hour electricity with clean the water for bath pipe that come from clean river, beautiful sunrise and you also can see the squids and little fishes just outside the room at night and only 10 mnt boat distance from Ora.
Back to Ora, the water for bath is quite brackish, the Food is ok for secluded area Since It provided bread, vegetable even chicken for everyday lunch and dinner. The electricity is up from 5pm to 7am now and signal available for texting, Calling and even for whatsapp, but the strongest signal is at the restaurant. No air con nor hot water for bath facilities, I just used mild mosquito bracelet and stiker repellent then open Doors to Veranda when I went to sleep hence No sleeping problems. The rooms are clean and they also provide blanket and towel for 2 people. I recommend 3rd Bungalow from the end, It Had the Most beautiful corals and colorful fishes where you can feed them with bread or biscuit crumbs from the veranda, and see a Clear view of the bottom of the corals like all the spot in Ora and its sorroundings. the view is Like heaven on earth, we were snorkling around, It was very stunning! You can go snorkling at Ora and Nearby beaches. The nearby beaches have small cave, many kinds of corals and small fishes with no jellyfish and only small sea urchins that centralized in few Places. If u want to dive bring all your gear since they not providing any.

“Heaven... I’m in heaven... and my heart beats.. so that I can hardly speak.. and I seem to find that happiness I seek..” this Sinatra’s song is automatically sung when I arrived.
It took about 6 hours to reach this place from Pattimura Airport, but the journey is worth when you see this hiden paradise.
This place is so relaxing, all you have to do is nothing and you will get your happiness. One more thing, You may also see school of fish from your doorstep.
If you want to taste heaven, just go to Ora!

Hi
From Malaysia you can fly to pattimura AirPort in ambon. Then you go to tulehu harbour, take boat (about 2 hours) to masohi city. Then car about 2 hours to saka village.

Sto leggendo tanto sulle Banda ma non riesco a capire se posso passare anche una settimana da queste parti e se questo hotel puo esswere una buona base!

you can go to jakarta to transit and then take a flight to ambon. after that you should take a taxi to tulehu harbour because your next destination is to Masohi. from masohi you can ask the hotel to pick you up from Amahai harbour...good luck

Hello there!
Thanks for your great review about Ora beach resort. I am planning a trip there in August for 3 nights and would like to ask you if you think it's better to book the full package (trip included) or just the hotel and book the trip separated? I've noticed that the price for the package is quite expensive 3800000 RP for 3 nights trip included in comparaison to 700000/night for the floating house which would be 2100000 for the 3 nights. Looking forward to hear your feedback also if you have any other reccomendation of must visit places around sulawesi I am all hears. Many thanks xx, Eny.
I read some reviews where guest where complaining about the price for the acutal service they offer.
