An amazing museum. So many things, and so much to see. Well planned, well executed, and all run by friendly and helpful volunteers. The only surprise was nothing at all about the church, which is an important part of social history.

A great place with very helpful and friendly staff. A great deal of information that will make you go 'wow' and only costs £1. They are trying hard to get families in by providing treasure trails and quizzes for children to follow. Please do go...More

Walking in to this small museum was like stepping into the past. Not a bright, shining new museum but one of those old-fashioned ones put together by local people. Has a variety of exhibits, some dating back to Roman times. Entrance fee is low and...More

Went to visit museum with a couple of friends but soon changed our minds when we were met by an extremely rude and abrupt small lady with a grey bob. If you as a museum intend to use this lady as the so called face...More

A very interesting museum with lots of interesting facts about the island that i was not aware of, really glad we found it, and made the effort to visit.

Having lived on the island in my youth I still visit Mersea regularly. The museum, run by knowledgable local volunteers, has a huge collection of artefacts and information on the island’s past from prehistoric times right up to more recent significant events. There is a...More
