Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We decided to stop off in Hawes on our way to Carlisle. This is a small but very busy little town. We rode to Hawes on a motorbike and stopped at the Bay Tree cafe for some lunch. We sat outside and were duly provided for with a hot coffee and tea and excellent soup and Welsh rarebit. Lovely little place with friendly staff and good tasting food.
However....
Whilst sat outside two ladies stopped in front of us; between us and our motorbike and started complaining about the lack of parking for the locals. One lady in particular complained about the motorbike being parked in the way of her husband being unable to park outside. The space we occupied was far too small for even the smallest of cars! Both ladies were aware of the fact that we were the bikers/owners of the bike but continued complaining. Up to a point this could be an understandable complaint until you realise that one lady owned the Bulls Head Guest House and one would assume requires tourists to frequent Hawes, and the other lady worked in the Alchemist's Cottage and also relies on tourists for her livelihood. These 'locals' obviously make money from visitors, but also appear to disrespect them and resent their presence.
We have visited Hawes on a number of occasions and have spent our money at a variety of the local businesses, however, on this occasion we were made to feel very unwelcome and as a result shall not return again.

A very pleasant English country village atmosphere with a market on the main street on certain days. It is regularly buzzing with tourists but it does have a real charm about it.

Had a lovely day in the Yorkshire village of Hawes. Visited the Wensleydale cheese factory brilliant . We had a coffee and scone in the cafe with jam and cream for a treat and to our disappointment we had light airy cream instead of proper thick cream . Spoiled the whole scone. You go to a dairy and have rubbish cream .
