Mercado el Parain is a nice little market just a few blocks from the zocalo. A lot of typical tourist souvenir items with perhaps a bit of authentic art and craft items. The restaurants are pretty good and are priced more reasonable than those around the zocalo.

It doesn't seem like they like to negotiate too much. Prices are decent but about average when compared to other markets. Would recommend checking it out, they have tons of stuff.

This market is full of different crafts and traditional candy. If you are looking for a cheap souvenirs you will find many options here. However, if you are looking to buy high quality and real traditional pieces, I recommend you go directly to the ceramic workshops. The pieces here are colorful but doesnt compare to the real ones, which are... More

I was here on the weekend and then again during the week. I was just passing through on both occasions and the experiences were vastly different. I would recommend avoiding this area on the weekend when it is miserably crowded if a weekday is an option. The items that were for sale were kitschy and touristy. I bought a magnet... More

This is a nice place to walk around, but don't go here if you are looking to buy high quality crafts. As it happens, this targets mostly to tourist and it has sadly loss a bit of its charm. Since it is right in the city center it is a fun space to walk around

I was on the city of Puebla from 6th to 14th October 2016. I spent one evening loitering along Mercado ei Parian. Its location very near to Zocalo is also pergect setting. The Art Galleries, wood carvings, embroidered clothings and local pieces of artistic including talavera are great. The rows of stalls along the strets were found to be cheap and... More

Had a fun walk around this Mercado, there are Art gallery's and little shops with wood carvings, embroidered clothing, and all kinds of funny typical day of the dead sculptures , candy and talavera ceramics.

This is the place! Why bother with chain stores? Mercado el Parian is all about the local merchants and artisanry! Can you say talavera!? It's about a block of nothing but local merchants selling their stuff. Some very cool and unique - some very typical and generic but it's all crazy cheap! Seriously, you can bargain but the stuff is... More
