A wonderful horse riding experience in the snow! Truly magical! We visited mesna.no over Christmas when it was a little cold and very snowy! Our family of 4 had all ridden before but were all beginners, only the children had ever trotted - we'd never gone past walking before - but we learned to trot and gallop (we did a lot of galloping) in the space of 2 hours of riding through the most beautiful countryside. Under expert guidance of Christoffer and Camilla and on very sensible Icelandic horses we spent two hours out in the snow, galloping along roads covered in powdery snow or walking in the deep snow through pine forests. What a way for us to learn to gallop for the first time. We had a great time and it was a magical experience that will stay with us for a very long time.

This was one of my favorite parts of my Scandinavia trip, Camilla was such a great leader and made riding a new type of horse with new gaits so much easier. It’s extremely affordable and Mesna made it such a memorable experience for my whole family

October 13-14th 2018 I was invited to Mesna Islandshest Senter by a friend of mine. Long time since I have ridden Icelandic horses and I haven't seen my fellow student for almost 27 years. So it was time. Since I normally ride larger horses it was a transition to move over to a smaller horse with five gaits instead of three. Its requires more attention to the sits and due to the nature of a smaller horse you cannot move around in the saddle as with a heavier warmblooded horse. We arrived Friday evening and was accommodated in a house five minutes walk from the stables. We were riding both Saturday and Sunday in beautiful and peaceful surroundings. This place is literally speaking in the middle of nowhere with no highways or other noisy sources. Riding Icelandic horses are amazing. They have a somewhat different social code allowing them to run as a pack without the kicking and biting that often comes with their bigger relatives. And this is actually where the fun starts! Due to their size almost everyone can ride an Icelandic horse, its like a furry scooter. So we had a great trail both days. Having been on more than thirty trails I was impressed by facilities, the equipment (saddles, bridles) and how it all was organized. Camilla and Kristoffer are exceptional professional in their business and know how to take care of their guests and learn novices like myself how to ride an Icelandic horse and how to toelt. The horses are very safe and surefooted in rough terrain. Its a real experience. Have attached some photos from both days! Highly recommended!! Tom

Dear Camilla and Kristoffer,  thank you very much for the amazing weekend at Mesna! It couldn’t be better!  The riding was such a fun, and it was all because I got the best horse😉 I enjoyed the nature, horses around, fishing and very nice people I met, all together made one of best weekends I had!   Thank you! Best wishes,   Pawel

A group of 13 guys stayed here for a weekend in October. We went horseback riding in the woods, and tried the bow & arrow, both great activities. The owners and staff at Mesna were very friendly and professional, and made our stay absolutely terrific. The scenery surrounding this place is breathtaking and is a must-see for anyone interested in outdoor activities!
