Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We made the fatal mistake of going to Lulworth Cove on a Bank Holiday. Such a lovely place but too busy on the day, we will go back when quieter. Getting there late morning the car park was almost full and no hope of parking in the Disabled Bays so had to park right up the hill. Due to massive demand the parking meters were playing up, would not recognise a card, second attempt card recognised, put in time needed of 4 hours for £6 but it charged us £12 for ALL DAY. Reported this to the Information Centre, who said they would look into it (potentially for a refund on part of parking price), gave them our details and asked for them to contact us with what they are going to do. Not had any response after 7 days. Hoping they will respond shortly.

My wife and I were seriously wanting to see Durdle Door as we are renting a Motorhome from mid July this year, but seeing the cost of 15 pounds for parking has turned me off especially after reading a lot of comments about expensive parking. Why charge someone with a Motorhome so much more than a car, we are not wealthy, we are pensioners, in fact the Motorhome charge was very expensive so we have to be careful about the parking charges. I understand that you have to maintain the areas but you must be making thousands of profit each year. And I repeat one of the comments, it's very expensive to live these days, people are tired of price gouging.

We have visited and stayed at Durdle Door on the Lulworth estate many times and have always been really happy with the visits. I would recommend staying here however I have been left with a bad taste in my mouth over what appeared to be nothing short of financial exploitation.

We are due to stay on the estate tomorrow for one night on the sea view pitches which is what we usually use however this time we are bringing our young children with us, ages 4 & 6 and have to bring 2 campers to accommodate this.

This is fine, we have paid for 2 pitches.. we received our standard email to welcome us tomorrow and with this the number of the wardens for any enquiries.

Since the pitches are first come first served we called the wardens to see if we may ask for a little discretion for a reservation of spaces that were next to each other or not to far since we are taking our camping holiday together as a family.

I was met with a rather patronising warden at the end of the phone who states it was not possible for them to ‘police’ this and that it just wasn’t possible.. however if I paid £15 per vehicle it would be possible to achieve this.

The warden was rude, unhelpful and insensitive and even mocked me at one stage stating ‘if you wanted to be together you should have booked Abbey Field’

I’m sure during our stay tomorrow we will have the same pleasurable experience of what it a beautiful area, one which we absolutely love but in future we will consider carefully if Lulworth Estate is really the best place to pitch.

I don’t expect to be treated as if I am on a ‘meat factory’ cycle.. for them they have customers coming in and out but in todays climate everything is so expensive and these ‘extra charges’ just feel exploitative.

Particularly when basic customer service and human decency is lacking!

Great place to visit and a fantastic pub named The Weld Arms ran by the estate, just down the road from the Castle. As well as Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove being a 5 minute drive away.

After yesterday the 30th May there was a major incident declared on the beach at durdle door after 3 people were airlifted by air ambulance and coastguard helicopters. The next day Dorset corset council announced the beach is closed and shut the roads to the car parks, but lulworth estate kept the car parks open so they could continue to make money on parking fees. The police said they were powerless to enforce anything because they are private car parks. No social distancing was possible to access the beach, and the next day Sunday 31st the beach was packed again and police and coastguard were called out again to people jumping off the door.
It’s shocking to see the Estate focusing just on making money over people Heath and safety.

The Lulworth estate really combines well to make a great day out. Lulworth cove, Durdle door and Lulworth castle are in close proximity to each other and if you visit Lulworth cove or Durdle door first, the parking ticket is valid for all 3 places.( If you visit the castle first you will need to buy two parking tickets.) Durdle door offers nice walks and incredible scenery while Lulworth cove has nice shops and cafes in a nice small haven. If you enjoy cliff walks then then you can walk between the two locations and enjoy the stunning views. The castle is an imposing building from outside and although we didn't go inside, the grounds and church were lovely.

Not what you first expect and so interesting. Make sure you climb the tower as the view is amazing. Really easy to reach Lulworth Cove or Durdle Door from here. Make sure you also visit the two churches on the site.

The castle is amazing with fantastic views from the top of the tower. Most of the castle is bare, showing centuries of modifications. The basement has a lot of interesting information about the family and fire and a tea rooms (we had a cake there and would probably have preferred a different venue).

The cove is lovely with heaps of geology and a wonderful sea scape. Whether you walk or drive to Durdle Door, the trip is worth it to see the raw power of the sea.

It seems that parking at each of the three car parks requires a separate ticket, which feels a bit grasping at £4 for two hours. Also there are a few different Lulworth profiles on TripAdivsor.

Thank you for your review, I am glad to hear that you saw so much on your visit. With regard to the car parks, if you buy a car park ticket at the Cove or Durdle Door, this ticket is indeed valid at all three car parks.

Plenty of parking even on a very busy day. Well worth the effort, and not to be missed, walking to this Cove via the longer route taking in the breathtaking views while pausing to get your breath back periodically. Stunning picturesque beach & Cove that just begs you to sit and meander the goings on for a while. Nice little shops and plenty of food outlets.
