Really wonderful little place. Great afternoon out for anyone. Really well looked after animals and enclosures, really great signage on the enclosures. You will find other animals here not just owls which was a lovely surprise. Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend, it’s worth the visit. It’s also donation entry!

we were staying in the area and love animals so ideal place to visit for us.
They are open to visitors during '"winter" but don't offer a program like they do in the summer... so they don't charge entrance, we made a donation.
Lots of different owls, with interesting information about each character and how they came to be at the sanctuary.
The staff were busy cleaning out, but still took the time to chat to us, answer questions and share their obvious love for the animals. We so lucky, the Kestrel was doing some training whilst we were there, so we got a mini flying display from a stunning bird

The health of these birds is second to none. They are absolutely beautifully cared for to the highest standard. The large open cages are so clean and as close to nature is as possible. We were blown away by this owl sanctuary, will definitely come back.
I fell in love with Tom, the large eagle Owl, who was in training.
The staff made us so welcome and we visited on a very damp dark day, but this place brightened up our day to see such amazing birds of prey!!
Thankyou for all you do for the birds and animals there.

went here this week while on holiday, it was a nice place with loads of rare animals. There were also other animals as well as owls. My partner liked the owls whereas I loved the merrkats and lemars. Spent a while here looking round and off season it is free to visit so can just made a donation to support the sanctuary.

We popped in to Screech for a look round as we have never been, we live in Newquay!
It’s a donation on entry as the shop and cafe is closed due to winter hours, what great idea. We (3 adults) had a really pleasant hour or so walking round looking at the owls, birds and animals. It’s a great place for any age and for us it was lovely just to be able to look and read about the birds! Fantastic idea doing donations this time of year, some of the other local attractions could learn from them and do the same, well done the screech owl sanctuary.

Visited today for the first time ever! Then wondered why I’d never been before. This is not a charity but a sanctuary and although does not have the quality of a top speck attraction it was still an amazing visit. Staff were excellent and very attentive. The animal care was excellent and it felt like being at a family event. Such a lovely experience. Would certainly consider coming back again.

always a pleasur to visit but Screech is really growin as a place with new animals all the time. You can easily stay all day for every display or if nearby a nice half day with some nice cafe food available on site. I would suggest going all out and get a handling session. We did the lemur session and that was AMAZING. Have done the meerkats, owls and wallabies before all of whoch were amazing as well. Waas very lovely to see the little girl called Merryn get to hold and fly the owl with the same name. I would maybe not suggest it's great for the very small humans who don't enjoy sitting and watching things.

We visited several weeks ago while on holiday in Devon, and while at the Meerkat enclosure, one of them came out carrying a baby Meerkat, even the keeper didn't know about any births until then.
I was wondering how the baby is doing?

Your visit is as long as you want it to be.
We visited it with our 9 year old grandson and we stayed around 2 hours. I spent a lot of time photographing the owls, meer cats etc. The flying display lasted nearly 50 minutes 2 Owls and Kookaburra, very entertaining. The Cafe/Tea shop is very nice and with friendly staff. There was no rush to get us to leave, we had arrangements elsewhere

How do i get to the owl sanctuary from st columb train station by public transport?
Geoff H
Surrey41 contributions
The sanctuary is about 3 miles from St Column railway station mostly along minor roads. It is difficult to see that these roads would have a through bus route on them. I can only suggest that you email the Screech Owl Sanctuary and ask them directly. Their address is given on their website under Get in Touch.
Good luck
