it's a beautiful, peaceful place. You'll find mangrove forests there, plenty of birds and foremost - luminescent, glowing in the dark plankton. The plankton is clearly visible only in good conditions so make sure you ask about it before you book the trip. Try avoiding full moon (or moon at all).

Unbelievable. Excellent. Knowledgeable tour guide and sharp eyed boat driver make sure you see every creature along the way. If the light is the wrong way the boat is moved. Mr Malone is a long time winter resident and has a keen historical perspective of this ecological gem. Excellent binoculars provided for each guest during the trip. Do not miss... More

I had such a great time at the lagoon--don't miss it to see wild life on the boat trip. Swimming in water that shines like neon when you 'dive in - its just amasing!

This enormous lagoon, 20 minutes from Puerto Escondido, is surrounded by mangrove forest, and separated from the ocean by a narrow sand bar which opens the lagoon to the sea during rainy season, providing a unique environment for an amazing variety of plant and animal life. We booked a tour with Lalo Eco-Tours, who provided early morning pick-up, boat tour... More

The bioluminescent effect is something really cool, it's not as it looks on the pictures in the tour guide's place but it's really amazing, go on a dark day! My friends and I chose the day the closest to the new moon so we had a nice time!

I went on an excursion here and had a blast. The boat ride through the natural habitat gave me a lot of great photo moments of bird sanctuaries, bio fish, etc. Make sure you have on sturdy shoes and some warm enough clothes for the adventure.

Do the bird watching and phosphorescence because it will give a clear picture of the beauty of the lagoon. Loads of wildlife will take you to where the lagoon butts against the sea with a shack to have a cold drink, watch the sunset, and when the stars come to life, a new journey to the phosphorescent swimming. Because of... More

We arranged a tour with Javier Santos Tours late in the afternoon on our last afternoon in Puerto Escondito via Facebook and telephone. Javier came to our hotel (ArcoIris) in his SUV and we followed him along #200 in our car out to a property between to inns on the lake about twenty minutes north west of PE (just past... More
