We stopped in Puerto Aventuras to visit the museum and have lunch. The museum is very easy to miss, but once we parked our car we were able to figure out where we needed to go. The exhibits are well put together with ample signage and lots of artifacts and trinkets from the various wrecks. Definitely worth a stop.

Cute little museum tucked away in the main part of Puerto Aventuras. There isn't a whole lot of advertising or signage so it's easy to miss. It's a small place, upstairs (no handicap access), and there is usually no one there besides the one person at the front desk (I live here and have been a few times). It's free... More

This little museum is the hidden gem of Puerto Aventuras. Inside you can learn a little bit of the history of this place and the people who actually founded Puerto Aventuras and Akumal. Reminders found on a ship wreck are exhibited here and some odd peaces and replicas of Mayan artifacts. It is the perfect spot to wonder around on... More

The museum is small yet informative. We were able to see gear and artifacts in this quaint spot which was a great stop while in Puerto Aventuras. It doesn't attempt to sell itself as more than it is which is refreshing for the area. We loved reading about the adventures of these early scuba enthusiasts and are grateful for their... More

Nice little museum with lots of shipwreck and dive related artifacts. I would suggest maybe 30 minutes and would interest most people, if you have kids who like pirates this is a good way to learn and see some genuine history

Found this museum by a happy accident. It was free and we spent about an hour inside. They take donations and were very nice.

This is one of the very few free attractions in the area. The museum is located in the community of Puerto Adventuras on the way to Tulum from Playa del Carmen. The best time to visit is when you are going or returning from Tulum. We hired a taxi to Tulum and made a deal with the driver to stop... More

The museum displays many artifacts recovered from various shipwrecks from the area. Just a short walk from the dolphin pens. Worth the trip!
