Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A gated community where you can stroll along the various pathways within the marina community. Twice a week there is a farmers market located next to the post office and various shops and restaurants to explore. Depending on where you eat and what you order the prices can vary from expensive to cheap. The pathways and roads do not have proper lighting so watch out for the golf carts and bicycles moving about without lights at night. A few minutes walk from the marina area is a outdoor walking path with various outdoor exercise stations

Stayed just up the road from the marina 400 yards away to be precise
Walked down most days & lived looking at the fish etc. Seen manatees, dolphins & sea lions in the enclosures & a few sting Ray in the marina. Shops were a bit dear but if you find the oxxo it's far cheaper.

We had a lovely stroll in the marina area of Puerto Aventuras. We were three adults and four kids aged 8-14. We enjoyed good ice cream. Everything was very expensive, with the cheapest pizza costing 200 pesos. But this is a highly touristy spot, so I guess it's to be expected.
I'm personally not a fan of marine mammals in captivity, so I wasn't too thrilled with the dolphins, manatees and sea lions, but to be fair, they seemed to be in good conditions (if those exist).
All and all, a beautiful, charming yet expensive afternoon.

A few years ago we came here by taxi and had a lovely day exploring the beach, marina and restaurants. We tried to visit this week and it has changed, you can no longer enter the complex unless you are staying there or have a reservation for dolphin experience etc. We were turned away at the gate! Total waste of time and money in taxi to get there and so disappointing as we would have didn't money whilst we were there. What a shame for the business owners!

Wouden visit Puerto Aventuras during our stay in Xpu Ha, but you cannot enter without a reservation for a hotel or QR code with access pass as proof. Very sorry. The tour guide had also said nothing about this. It ended in a fizzle, resulting in a quick return by taxi

The Aventuras Club is conveniently located to the Marina of Puerto Aventuras. There are lots of small, nice restaurant options as well as various souvenir shops, pharmacies and the like. They have trained dolphins in the marina who put on a show at various times during the day which is also fun to watch.
The condo apartments at the Aventuras Club are very spacious with full kitchens and large bedrooms and baths.

An amazing marina with bars, restaurants, and shops. It is set around the lagoons of dolphin discovery so you also get the added bonus of being able to watch the animals. It was such a great location. Many of the restaurants offered live music and happy hour drink specials from 3 to 7.

Puerto Aventuras is a gated community. Love how safe the community feels at night or day. Plenty of places to shop. Lots of restaurants to choose from (many with happy hour) and live music is usually going on at one of the places at night. There are pharmacies in town, and I noticed a place that advertised 1 hour massages for 500pesos. (Find the white giraffe - see pic, the place is to the right of it)
Perhaps the coolest thing here is all the sea life in the lagoons. There are sea lions, manatees, dolphins, huge sting rays and more that you can see just walking through the town or sitting on one of the many patios. We had some drinks and watched a band play at the Nauti Burro.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere here in town and recommend that you take some time to check it out. You can also rent golf carts for 24 hours if you'd prefer to drive around the area for the day.

We loved to go to this area to walk around the shops , stop for lunch and a beer . Not this year !!! a big gates to get in , just show a QR code .
Turned us 4 senior Canadians away . We are so shocked and disappointed . This will cause some places who survived on tourists to close .
If you do decide to go call a restaurant first to get a QR code

This is a wonderful and unique gated community. This week they even had a Christmas bazaar with some fabulous local artisans. The shops are full both touristy goods and authentic Mexican wares.
Plus DOLPHINS!!!

Can the golf carts be driven outside the community ?
Written 14 July 2019
Not anymore. There are 2 streets and a returno and a gas station. The #307 hi way is nothing like the #405 but they drive like it was. With the gas station right outside the gate sometimes can get quite congested. It’s a nice walk to the supermarket, or there’s always a taxi at the gate.
Hope this helps. 🌞😎

How far is the marina from the Barcelo resorts? What time of the day is it best to visit? I would like to incorporate dinner here into our plans? We will be traveling with our 2 girls who are 11 and 14.
Written 27 January 2018
I'm sorry but im not tonsure how far away it is from that resort, if its anywhere near the Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort & Spa it was a 5 min walk from there.
We went there at 13:00 and it was a bit too hot at that time of day so I would suggest either 10:00 -11:30 Or a little later in the afternoon when the hottest time of day has gone.
Not much shelter from the sun there but there is nice restaurant and bar kust over the road.

Hello, we will be staying at the Secrets Maroma about 40 mins north. Any tips on getting the best mode of transportation / costs to here? I'm hearing mixed things about cabs/arranging transportation just curious if anyone has made the trip down from Maroma and could give some insight. Thanks.
Written 18 January 2018
I'm not 100% sure on costs etc since we stayed very close to the area, but I do know that taxis are fairly inexpensive. However, I would check with your hotel concierge for a better idea. Hope this helps! Enjoy your vacation!

Someone said they have golf cart rentals by the marina, where do you drive the golf carts at?
Written 7 October 2017
They do have golf cart rentals you can rent in marina or have delivered to hotel it is cheaper to rent for 24 hrs at 50$ the area is massive and you can go anywhere within the gate community good way to have a look around and do some shopping. Sorry for late reply.

Can you get tour boats here to eg. Cozumel, and how long and how expensive are they?
How are the dolphins kept in the marina? Do you have to pay to see the shows etc?
Thank you!
Written 27 February 2017
sorry I do not know about the boats. The dolphins and sea lions are in a part of the marina that is fenced off from the area the boats use. You can watch the shows from the quay side but have to pay if you want to get in the water. Hope that helps.

We are staying at the Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort and Spa. I would like to visit Tulum, but don't want to go with a tour. Could we take a "taxi'? My husband and I do not travel often, and need to know specifics. How much should we pay for a taxi? Should we get a guide? any help would be appreciated
Also, we like to bike and would like to rent bikes for a day. Is there a 30-50 miles route someone could recommend? Where do we rent bikes?
Written 16 January 2016
You could use a taxi. My guess is it would be about $30each way. We took a collectivo shuttle bus from just outside the resort. These are minibuses that constantly run from Playa del Carmen to Tulum. You basically just flag one down $2 per person. Ask your hotel front desk about them, that is where we got the information.
