You have to leave your car in the little village of Mornas and then a steep climb awaits you if you want to visit the castle. Actually it can be quite demanding, especially if the weather is hot. I planned to take part in an animated visit but finally desisted due to the climbing required. The view from below is... More

we visited the fortress with 2 adults and 2 kids. Be aware that parking area is limited near the fortress. Better park in the medieval village below and then do the walk uphill. Doable with kids and/or stroller. We enjoyed the animated tour (approx 1 hour) after which there was plenty of time to explore the fortress further on your... More

We visited with six kids and four adults. We were all very enjoyed the trip. Despite the price were a bit costly but worth it. The tour guides animation was interesting, too bad we don't understand France language. Ended up we were just left the France speaking animation and walking around by ourselves. Very nice medieval experienced for kids and... More

Spend a nice couple of hours, young guides with fun animation. Also learned a lot which I didn't expect. Just go, you won't regret.

We visited the fortress with our two children. Despite the fact that the tour was all in French, and we aren't fluent, it was easy to follow and very enjoyable. There is a steep walk up from the parking lot for the fortress, and a very narrow steep road to that parking lot. To avoid that, you can just park... More

You see the fortress high above the motorway. Once you've climbed the steep hill to have a closer look, you step back into a period of time long forgotten. The tour is completely in French, but even I could follow along with some of it. Thankfully, my wife translated a good bit for me and the kids. The views of... More

We could not miss the Fortress high on the Rock above the village on our way to Orange and decided to stop and have a look. The steep walk up was well worth it. What a gem and to be able to walk around the rampards and climb up the tower with very few H&S notices was refreshing. Great views... More

This is a brilliant location for anyone with children who like playing with swords - they will love it - you will need to buy (yet ) more swords for them to play with. They have brilliant displays in the summer of siege warfare including firing the trebuchet and other siege engines. Take water - it is boiling hot and... More

Nice views but opens quite late (11am!). English leaflet but tour in French. The walk up from the carpark is quite steep but managable. Quite a small fortress and a struggle to get up to the top of the tower.

Gorgeous forteresse with a fantastic view. Everything inside is very accessible (including all the torture instruments!) and during the summer, there is reconstruction and animation. The hill is a steep climb and it is advisable to do it early in the morning or later in evening as it is very exposed. Kids loved it once they got over the climb!
