My alpaca experience was a birthday present. Wanted to do this for ages and it didn’t disappoint. Isobel gave us a very amusing talk about the alpacas, loved that she knew all the names of the alpacas and their characteristics. Yes, it was muddy and a bit chilly standing in the field but that’s to be expected, Isobel gave us lots of information and made us laugh a lot. Have you thought about stand up Isobel 😉
Then the best bit, being assigned an alpaca. I walked Macchiato and he was very good. Loved having a munch on the grass and responded when I spoke to him with a little, low noise. Gorgeous! Lots of photo opportunities, chance to hand feed and run up the field and get your alpaca to go over a little jump.
Didn’t think I could live alpacas more but this experience has proved I can. 🦙🦙🦙

Took my niece for her birthday treat as she is obsessed with Alpacas. She had an amazing time and seeing her big smile made it the best gift we’ve ever given. Thank you. You get a lot information about the Alpaca during your visit and she loved walking her alpaca worth every penny

I have been wanting to walk with alpacas for a long time now and a finally got to experience it a couple of weeks ago with my husband.
The 'tour guide' was very knowledgeable and friendly and answered all of our questions as if she hadn't heard them a million times. The baby alpacas (cria) were delightful and I loved seeing how all the alpacas interacted with each other. There are about 90 animals there and as we walked around the fields we saw most of them. Very hard to resist the temptation to give them a cuddle but I did manage it.
So enjoyable I may well go back again!!

The talk from Isabelle was interesting and informative. The alapacas were well looked after and absolutely gorgeous. Walking them needed a firm hand and you need not to be nervous they respond so well. We had Jasmine, Rosa and Tulip 3 Alpacas with different personalities such as people but they were matched well to us. Was one of the nest things we as a family have done. Yes they do spit and yes they do kick however it is explained why this happens and we saw they did that at each over in the talk but that was only because they felt threatened. and we were fully aware what to avoid doing to these lovely creatures. We as a family would go again.

We had a great day out seeing all the alpacas, with a very informative chat to begin with.. we did find the chat was a lot longer than the actual trek which we were really looking forward too the most, little disappointed.

Also it would’ve been fun if we were able to choose the alpacas we would like to walk, like we’ve done in previous treks elsewhere.

After the walk we got to go in the amazing gift shop at the end with so many beautiful pieces which finished off with a nice touch of tea and biscuits!

All in all it was a fun day out.

Many thanks for your review, glad you enjoyed the day. Thanks for the feedback - it's always a difficult balance to please newcomers to alpacas as well as those that know about them already. The walking element has to cater for all ages and capabilities, hence we don't 'trek', we walk. Maybe in the future we can offer trekking, but unfortunately we do not currently have the resources for this. Thanks for the suggestions. Best regards Liz

I enjoyed this experience with my daughter, as a well done after her GCSE exams. Alpacas are one of the most placid and friendly animals ever. Walking around with your own Alpaca (after an informative tour and talk about them) is a very calming and beautiful experience. I cannot recommend Butlers enough, and I will definitely go back one day.

Just returned from a 2 hour alpaca experience with my other half and honestly if I could give this 10 stars i would!

The experience itself is excellent an imfomative talk at the start from the lovely liz who clearly adores her alpacas as they are all so well kept! After the talk its walkies.... the time flew by it was so much fun and I must say that walking around the open fields getting up close and personal with these funny, amazing animals is so de-stressing and therapeutic it's so funny to see there personalities come out. The shop at the end is well stocked and it is intresting to see how the alpaca wool is used.

Both me and my other half loved the experience and both came back feeling relaxed and destressed and considering a return trip next year.

Highly recommend!!!

A two hour experience including plenty of hands on with alpacas. This informative and fun experience began standing in a paddock with about ten male animals whilst the owner Liz gave a really interesting short talk on the alpaca origins, how to greet them and other interesting facts. We then progressed through to meet the mums and babies and alpacas who need a little bit more attention, again wonderfully informative and plenty of interaction as some alpacas approached us to say hello. Then on to the females who were helped into a harness and off we went for a walk across more fields including stopping at an apple tree which was a huge alpaca treat. Liz was on hand at all times for advice and chats, she even took everybody’s photo on their own phone, something quite hard to do yourself with an alpaca at your side! After some treats from your hand and walking them back and unharnessing them we proceeded to the shop where you can buy gifts from alpaca keyrings up to duvets, all ethically sourced and some items coming from the fleeces from Butlers Farm (I brought a pillow and it was the most comfortable thing I have ever had). The experience was rounded off with tea and biscuits too. In total this experience was informative, interesting, fun. Liz and her team certainly care for the alpacas and they looked really happy! Not quite sure how you quantify that but it definitely felt right. A very popular place so if you can’t get to visit this year, make it a definite for 2019.

Had a great time visiting the farm and learnt a lot about alpacas. The alpacas were shy at the beginning of the walk but soon got used to strangers and enjoyed a scratch and a tickle. I fell in love with them all! Thank you Liz!
