Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Enjoyed our experience with the raptors of Pollino which is located in a prime area with great views of Civita and the canyon. Facilities are basic but Roberto and his sons have a great passion for their work.
Unfortunately the presentation was in Italian so a great deal was lost in translation, this did hinder our experience and detract from what we took away. I think they may have an English interpreter at some times but you would need to check.
I loved seeing the barn owl rotate his head 180 degrees.
Apart from Pollino National Park there is not a lot to do in Civita so the raptor experience is worth going to if you have spare time.

We met in Roberto a man of great passion for his birds of prey.
We are familiar with many bird shows around the world but here we met a man and his family committed to fundamental principles of sustainable ecotourism and management of raptors.
His knowledge and love is apparent and deep.
It’s not actually a show more a learning experience including interaction with wild creatures and appreciation of people who commit to looking after threatened species.
The setting in Pollino next to Civita ( Eagles Nest ) is amazing.

I have seen falcon shows back in United States. At Disney world etc. but this personal experience is so much better.

Roberto and his son Antonio bring Falconry and birds of prey to a whole new level.
They’re site is located near the edge of the canyons which gives a fantastic background for the flying and experiencing the falcons, owls, hawks and Eagle in a natural habitat. The birds have been raised by the professional falconers since birth. You can see the bond between them and trust!
Worth the trip! Enjoy

Such beautiful birds. We need to protect and care for them. Activities such as these allow for the preservation and continuation of these birds of Prey.

We had an al fresco lunch which was very good at this place before we were treated to a show of the birds of prey. The Golden Eagle and Eagle Owl were two of the birds that demonstrated their abilities. Beautiful birds!!

Few travelers have heard of Calabria, Italy. Well - - it is a hidden gem. The village of Civita has much to offer with very fine B & Bs and restaurants.

As for activities, the Percorso Naturalistico demonstration (that is Birds pf Prey) should not be missed. They have eagles, falcons, and owls that hunt their food all kept safely in captivity. They show them off, then have them demonstrate their hunting skills overlooking a vast valley.

This place should not be missed. Ken
