I live around here so I often do parts of this walk. To think that they wanted to build a six lane carriageway from Whaley Bridge to Hazel Grove, which would have destroyed what is a very interesting and varied walk. Lots of natural beauty and wildlife. Industrial heritage in the Torrs, as well as a working Archimedes screw which... More

Walked from Hayfield to New Mills. It says it's 2.5 miles, but I think it's more! Lovely easy walking, gorgeous views and amazing surprise views at the end at New Mills

We often walk down here with our 17 month old daughter, the trail is clean, well kept & very pretty. The woodland trail is a nice touch & the Trail Tales overlooking Birch Vale Reservoir are lovely to hear. We walked along the trail to The Sycamore Inn for lunch one Sunday & walked back again. It's a busy trail... More

Walked from Hayfield to New Mills. Avery enjoyable east walk with lovely views across the Sett Valley. particularly good as it was easy for people in wheelchairs to travel the whole length.

Lovely place to walk, very scenic, mostly level with a bit of incline. Some other places off the path to explore. Lovely place to take photos.

We started on this trail from Hayfield intending to divert to one of the recommended trails on our information sheet - tourist office closed so had to get an info map from the Hotel. Very pleasant walk and ended up in New Mills which wasn't what we intended but still a good pleasant and easy walk.

I am fortunate enough to live in New Mills and the Sett Valley is only a 2 minute walk from my house. I take FULL advantage of this; regularly walking my dog along the trail. It's beautiful, peaceful and very dog friendly! Whether on foot or by bike it's a great way to get outdoors and do some exploring. All... More

Ideal for inexperienced cyclist as it is flat and safe, the only thing to watch out for are dog walkers. There is a cafe on the road which the trail crosses but it is only open certain days. There is car parking at the Hayfield end and at the New Mills end (Leisure Centre).

So many hikes in the Peak District are challenging, but this is an easy stroll taking about 40 minutes in one direction. It connects Hayfield to New Mills.
