Coming south on Icefields Parkway, I had seen all of my planned stops except Bow Summit at Peyto Lake. We saw waterfalls and glaciers and beautiful lakes, but had not seen Bow Summit. I was passing a camper just where the sign was for the...More

From October to April, expect snow in the Bow Summit area, both on the road and on the trails to the viewpoint. But it's worth any effort to drive the Icefields Parkway and to stop here at this viewpoint. In the summer, a lot of...More

We walked up here only two days ago. It had already snowed some the days before and I was snowing as we were making our way up here. It was truly majestic, too beautiful for words to describe it. The walk is neither long nor...More

Tourist buses and handicap use the upper car park for a flatter access to the viewing platform, all others the lower carpark that requires a bit of effort to walk up a moderate incline to access, but, it's worth the effort if you can find...More

An enjoyable but hard walk uphill in the sun but well worth it when at the top. Clearly see the blue of bow lake and the surrounding area. Well worth the couple of hours walk (that includes there and back)

Our group of 6 motorcyclists riding the Icefield Parkway decided on Bow Summit for an "al fresco" lunch stop. Parking lot was extremely crowded; had to wait until someone left before we could all park our motorcycles (yes, 6 bikes in one spot). Parking lot...More

You'll walk down to the viewing platform with a lot of other people all trying to stand on the same spot trying to take photo's but the view is marvelous with the lake being a beautiful blue. It's a short climb back up which did...More

Just visited this on Canada Day, 2017. The walk from Peyto Lake parking to the Peyto Lake lookout is short, a little steep, but very manageable. Tons of people there, hard to have a picture of the lake without including some people there. The view...More
