I found Johnson Lake to be more impressive. It is a nice easy walk around the lake. You might even spot the former hermit’s cabin in the woods.

Our family took the loop and was planning for a quick stop at the lake to cool off. We ended up staying several hours! Park in the main lot, then walk the shoreline. The crowds are few the farther you go from the parking lot....More

Let me put it straight, your visit to Banff would not be complete without doing this loop. And here are some reasons why: 1) Chances of spotting wildlife in this area are very high - cariboo, deer, bears, bighorn sheep, etc. 2) Those views! -...More

Take a drive to picturesque lakes just outside of Banff. We saw deer and big horn sheep along the way. Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack lakes are very pretty. Lots of places to have a picnic..

The Minnewanka Lake Loop was on our itinerary and after a few busy days, we almost nixed going there. I'm so glad we rallied because the lake is very easy to walk around. We even heard that there had been a grizzly bear sighting earlier...More

There are two routes to Lake Minnewanka. We took the other one on the way up. It wasn't particular scenic, though we did spot a black bear in a clearing, so it was worth it! But this loop was truly spectacular, especially Two Jack Lake....More

The loop is 10-20 minutes away from the city of Banff and just takes 1/2-1 hour to drive. But you got to visit a few lakes and see some wildlife. There is also a picnic area. This time I came to Banff with seniors who...More

You need a car or to be on a tour to experience this road (or have good cycling legs), but if you can get out here, do so. Firstly, in the winter, it's not a loop: it takes the anti-clockwise leg, and ends at Lake...More

Is there any public transportation to make "the loop" drive? Johnson Lake, etc. I've never heard mention of cabs in Banff area?? Won't have a car and want to do the lake hikes. Thank you
