if you want to see mountain sheep really close to you, this is the place you have to go. Other than that, nothing specially for me.

Hi Amy D, thanks for taking the time to visit Lake Minnewanka. Great that you were able to see some Big Horn Sheep up close (hopefully not too close!) We often see them near the shore line of Minnewanka or traversing the dam towards Two Jack Lake. They are on the hunt for natural mineral deposits found in the area.... More

The lake here in summer is beau6. You can do a small hike or a big hike. Plus scuba diving to look at the town resting beneath. Boat roads over the lake and even in winter it is a wonderful spot

We drove here for a refreshing walk on the Lake which was frozen over. It's only a few minutes from the centre of Banff Town and well worth a stroll around the area. The views we're really spectacular of the surrounding mountains covered in snow.It was nice change to a walk around the town and made you feel if you... More

Thanks Strumax150167 for this wonderful review and thank you for sharing your experience with us. The lake is very majestic when it's frozen, and I agree. The peaceful setting is quiet and makes you feel pretty small looking up at thousands of feet of mountain and snow. The fact that there are no (or very few) near by lights, make... More

A nice park to rest, lunch or hike a few mt or many km. The bridges have spectacular views all around, and there are many trails if you want to hike. There is a parking lot and facilities.

The lake was of course frozen solid in January and looked idyllic, surrounded by high mountains. We enjoyed a short walk on the lake and along its shore. Well worth the short drive (about 15 minutes) from Banff.

Thank you for the wonderful review w84. The lake takes on a very surreal look when frozen, definately worth the short drive up from downtown Banff if you have time. Regards, Travis Mann More

The lake is a few minutes drive from Banff through nice woodland with good potential for seeing wildlife. The lake has good facilities and parking and boat trips over the lake. We took one of these to the far end of the lake - it was a very nice trip with good commentary. There is a circular road back to... More

Came here a winters morning as we headed back out to Calgary from Banff, lucky to come across group of elks on each side of the road quite close to the road about 10-15metres. The lake itself was frozen over and provided amazing views through to the mountain on the otherside from the parking lot.

Hi Jason N, thanks for stopping by Lake Minnewanka. A large herd of Elk have been calling the area home for the last while and sure are stunning animals. The mountain you mention is Inglismaldie, it's my favourite in the Banff area and makes a great back drop for photos! Thanks, Travis Mann Manager, Banff Lake Cruise More
