These lakes are not the most scenic lakes but certainly do have their own beauty. They have plenty of wildlife, especially birds. We had a hawk dive for food literally right in front of us. A front row seat to nature is always great. These...More

We went 1 time during the day and 1 time at sunset, the reflection of the mountain in the lake is beautiful and the place is so quiet, we saw a few wapitis.

We went here as part of a wild life tour, & saw a beaver swimming. but the views of the mountains reflected in the water were really the drawcard. A photographers paradise.

We were enthralled with the bird varieties and activities so came each day to watch the eagles, swans, geese..... and nesting Loons. Had the high waters been more friendly, we would have ventured out in the lakes in canoe or kayak ~ be still, be...More

We got to Vermillion Lakes on our second day in Banff. There was hardly a sole around and the waters were like glass, which made for amazing pictures with beautiful reflections.

Wife and I rented a kayak from nearby Canoe Club and the lakes were a short paddle away. There is a pull off from the highway as well to see the lakes which is nice.

You can walk - drive - canoe to the lakes. I have to say canoeing into the lakes from Bow river makes you feel more part of the wild environment. While stood on the lakeside watching a Bald eagle we heard a noise behind and...More

Beautiful and worth a quick stop if you are in the area - you could do this in about 10 min. if you have a car. Or stay longer and take a picnic or take a rented kayak or canoe! Beautiful scenery and photos here!!!

I've visited Vermilion Lakes at different times of the day and it's different each time. Totally amazing views and often wildlife - deer, fish in the water, muskrats, bald eagle, Canada Goose. Can't recommend it enough. Ride a bike there or walk for the most...More

Yes, You can have dinner at the restaurant in the Juniper Hotel. It is situated on the lower slopes of Mount Norquay and the dinning room has an excellent view of Vermillion Lakes.
