We saw the lake in April, when it was still frozen and easy to walk on. You could see the turquoise blue lake beneath the thick ice sheet. The beauty of the place was breathtaking, and we spent a couple of hours walking across the lake and back. There are some spectacular views to be had here and you shouldn't... More

The bowl-effect of the mountains looking down at the lake was still there but I suspect the lake is frozen over for about 6 months a year ( which was still the case in late April ). However this didn't prevent hundreds of idiotic tourists from walking on it, taking pictures with their selfie sticks.

We was there with our Motor Home and found no parking place at our first try to visit this lake. So we start a second try early in the morning. But at 8am there are already hundreds of people from China to visit this lake. The lake them self is nice, but you can find this sort of lakes also... More

You have seen photos of the lake but they haven’t prepared you for how it feels to experience it yourself. You’ve never seen anything so dramatically beautiful. Late in the day, with the glowing sun dropping behind Mount Victoria, it is quiet and still. As you wander around the lakeside path it seems like the whole scene is for just... More

Visited here and the lake was frozen over. We were able to walk right across the entire lake which was quite surreal. Despite not being able to see the beautiful water it was still a wonderful day out. The whole area is so beautiful. Will just have to return at some point in the future.

I originally started at sunrise, up at Lake Moraine, then drove down the 14kms to Lake Louise to arrive before the first of the tourist coaches, before 8am.. The lake was still and the reflection practically perfect. Managed to get several shots, and help others with theirs before heading over to the Chateau Lake Louise and having some breakfast, with... I visited Lake Louise in middle of April this year. The whole lake was completely frozen and it was simply exhilarating to walk on the lake with beautiful mountains surrounding the lake. Pictures can't do justice to natural beauty the area presents. They had thin ice in certain areas however no visible rangers in sight. The washroom facilities are right... More
