The old building is under renovation and the new part hasn't really changed - nice park outside

Historic City Hall has always been one of Calgary's most beautiful old sandstone buildings, and they are finally doing a full restoration, long overdue. The new part, known as the Calgary Municipal Building, has always been bright and exciting from the outside, but a little dowdy and dull on the inside. There is a 12 storey atrium with skylights, but... More

We would have loved to see more of this lovely old building but unfortunately it was surrounded by hoardings because it is being renovated. It has a lovely clock tower and we were pleased to see that it is being restored.

This beautiful & iconic sandstone beauty stands graciouslyp in time - while it's clock tower reminds us that time is indeed STILL ticking ...it is, as previously mentioned, attached to the more modern municipal building that houses all of the civic employees. There is much to take in around the grounds - rapid transit will get you there for free... More

the old city hall is is a nice old building. We popped in and saw some of the displays inside. It's located in a busy part of the city with lots to see. Pop in for a look

Old City Hall is a historical building, and is attached to the more modern Municipal Building that houses approximately 3000 municipal employees. The building is currently covered in a bit of scaffolding due to crumbling exterior (2015). Work is being done to figure out how to fix it, but it will be difficult for you to get a good picture... Calgary is a city that is continuously changing - the economic cycles see buildings quickly put up and then as quickly replaced when the next boom comes and more and better space is required. The old city hall is a good example of the landmark buildings that were built generations ago as civic landmarks. And this one was saved. It... More

The sandstone walls, clock tower, cupolas, and red tiled roof of the old city hall lend it character. The free downtown segment of the C-Train runs past it. Near it, statues and plaques commemorate fallen city police and firefighters. The old city hall's lines, shapes, and colors stand in harmony with those just across the street in the Olympic Plaza.... If you are looking for excitement, this is not the place. It is a place of politics. Does that really sound fun to you? Once in awhile there will be some interesting display or art show. Other than that .....meh.
