Some parks are dead during the winter, but Bowness Park is very much alive at this time of year. The lagoon has always been the centre piece of the park, and City crews meticulously make a wonderful skating rink from it once it's cold enough. And the ice has been staying perfectly, even though we've in a bit of heat... More

Once a year we plan a get together of the small group of people I use to work with. Pot luck picnic, and good conversation. Lovely paths to walk after eating too much.

If you are looking for a quick escape without leaving the city of Calgary, try a visit to Bowness Park. It is truly an enjoyable escape in the city. It is a lovely place to go for a walk or run; enjoy a picnic with the family; try your hand at plein-air art; or simply breathe, and relax.

In the summer, this is a good place to launch your river kayak for many artificial eddies have been created here which are incidentally good places to walk out onto and skip... More

A great secret of Calgary, you feel like you could be in a quiet park anywhere in the world. Sometimes it's crowded on hot summer weekends, but an early morning stroll is the best way to let your worries lessen.

The park has been renovated and renewed. Past damage caused by the floods of 2013 have been corrected and new natural greenery installed. The kids railway has been overhauled and now offers summer fun for the little ones. Lots of picnic areas are available.

Loved skating at Bowness Park. It was amazing scenery. Loved the fires to keep warm. Made for an excellent afternoon.
