Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great walking paths, clear and easy to follow even in deep snow. Plenty of open space and route options. Lovely views of the river and city.

We like to bring the kids here as there is a great park on the island. It is one of the few parks in Calgary where the whole park is covered with shade from trees. The island is surrounded by water so everywhere you look it’s pretty.

I was in Downtown Calgary, looking for a nature fix, and headed to St Patricks Island. It's been a VERY late spring here, so there wasn't much green around, but there was a good amount of bird activity. While there are excellent asphalt trails making for a nice loop walk in the park, I used one of the wider gravelled paths near the splash ponds on the west side. I got a nice sense of NOT being in the downtown of a bigger city on that trail, quite a treat. I didn't double-check to see if the washrooms, which had been closed during COVID were actually open, but I suspect they are now open.

Also, like all the playgrounds, the playground equipment is closed as well. But the trails are still fine, and there's lots of space to maintain social distancing. There are a number of different trails, so it's easy to get some good exercise. On the west side, there are lagoons that attract birds, and we spotted an interesting one on our recent visit. It is part of the river pathway system, so for extended walks or bike rides, it's a nice place to include on longer outings.

I enjoy walking loops and this was a pleasant surprise in the middle of the city. Easy, mostly flat surface walk. I enjoyed all the ducks along the rivers Edge, the small off leash dog area and all the grass for a nice spot for a picnic.

We came upon this Island walking back alongside the Bow River from the Zoo. Gave us a different perspective of the views either side of the river. Nice to wander through as part of the Trail. We crossed over the the George C King bridge back to the other side of the river and walked the trail back into the city.

Took the kiddos here for a long ride, started in Inglewood and rode all the way to Eau Claire. We stopped and played/swam here for a good hour or so. Nice to see the improvements.

Lovely little island with great walks and views of the Calgary skyline in the centre of the Bow river. Good access to Calgary Zoo.

With kids, you can buy them a $500 toy, and they seem to have more fun with the cardboard box it came in. Same with St Patrick's Island. You can spend $100 for the family to get into the Zoo next door, and have them begging for more cotton candy, or you skip than, and just head to St Patrick's Island. The kids will love the wading / beach area. And they'll love you forever if you let them roll down the big hill on the grass. The playground is pretty cool too. Only issue is parking, which does cost. But likely less than one cotton candy...
