About
The majestic Legislature is one of the most iconic buildings in Edmonton and a must see when you are in the city! Built in 1912, in the Beaux Arts style, the Legislature is the seat of the government in the province. Friendly and knowledgeable tour guides are always pleased to take you on a free tour and introduce you to Alberta's legislative process (registration required). Just north of the Legislature, you will find the Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre. The centre is home to the Borealis Gallery, Pehonan Theatre and Capital Gifts shop. The Legislature site is a hub of activity throughout the year, the grounds being some of the most beautiful and picturesque in the area.

My son had won a small award and been to this impressive Legislature Building pre-Covid. We planned to stay in our province and visit Edmonton. After all these years of shamefully just going to the West Edmonton Mall, my son took us to the capital's beautiful grounds. There are no tours due to Covid- same as the Federal Building, His friend, who was a former minister had explained to him the various offices- who is housed there etc.

His friend said other years there were usually more flowers and they had also shut down the lovely fountains on the grounds. It was a very hot few days and the coolness of the fountains would have been welcome.

All in all a relaxing and informative afternoon. And by the way, my son recognized the Justice Minister walking by and said a quick hello to him!

Awesome experience. Incredibly knowledgeable guide, Ron, made this so interesting that I think almost anyone would enjoy this tour

If you're in Edmonton and are looking for something to do for an hour then this is something that you should 100 percent consider. It's free, doesn't eat up too much time and is really interesting. Not to mention the building is absolutely stunning to see.

This beautiful building full of history. Quite interesting to take the tour, the guides explain very well about its history. The gardens around the building are so well taken care. And the fountains are so great. During summer you can get into them and enjoy a woundeful day

I hadn't had a walk around the legislative grounds since I was 18, sooo... a very long time ago. But the other day I need some place to go to walk my chihuahuas while waiting for a friend. Even in the slush of an almost Spring day, it was a peaceful walk, friendly faces, beautiful architecture - just lots to admire even if you don't like the Alberta premiere! I live here and don't even know who it is, what party, what they stand for... I just want to walk, move, be aware, find beauty in everything... I haven't been inside since I was probably 14 and on a field trip, but I do remember it was impressive!

So, I went to tour the legislature with my boyfriend. It was a neat place and certainly worth the visit - though if you have a hard time with walking, this could be a problem for you. A lot of walking is done on this trip. A beautiful tribute to the province, its people, and the history of Alberta.

Fun night at New Years Eve! Amazing lights during the holidays. Has nice restraunts near, also coffee shops along Jasper Ave. Can tour the Legislature, so check hours it is open. Nice area to bring kids to play in the water in the summer.

Sign up online for a 45-minute tour of Legislative Building. Tour is informative and entertaining and suitable for all ages (elevator access if needed, otherwise 5 flights of stairs during tour).
The grounds and visitor center are also nice and worth a visit.

Very beautiful grounds but lots of construction going on! Some things were blocked off but it will be nice when it is all done. My biggest complaint was...on a Saturday...strolling through the grounds sipping a coffee...needed a bathroom! Nowhere to be found! Nothing was open! Had to leave the grounds earlier than planned as we all needed the facilities!

The tour guides are well trained and have the knowledge and information to share. The building though external surrounding areas are under renovations, the building itself is beautiful. Good historical information of Alberta's leadership through the years.

Beautiful building and grounds - such a contrast to most of downtown Edmonton. Tour and guide - sorry can’t remember his name but a knowledgeable and entertaining young man with a great easy delivery - were great. Recommend this to everyone.
