You wont get closer to a glacier (or get there any easier)

We visited the glacier as part of the Ice-fields tour from Banff (can recommend this tour). Amazing big buses especially built for this terrain. We had good weather and it was... read more

As we were driving from Lake Louise, there's just too much to see and do on the way so we didn't pre-purchase tickets - luckily as we arrived a couple hours later than planned. Omg, the line up for tickets was huge but more so was that the line moved sooo slowly. Either way, we weren't going to miss the... More

This was one of the highlights of my trip. The drive on the glacier was out of this world. Our driver Ness really made us laugh. Her driving skills were awesome. DO NOT MISS THIS WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.

We visited the glacier as part of the Ice-fields tour from Banff (can recommend this tour). Amazing big buses especially built for this terrain. We had good weather and it was special to be standing on the Athabasca glacier. We found the time on the glacier was about right as there is a limit to what you can do while... More

The Icefield Center has a lot to offer before you even get on the bus ride up on the glacier. There is a movie to watch, good food, a huge gift shop that has several somethings for everyone of all ages. The staff are knowledgable and ready to assist with maps and brochures. There is lots to keep you engaged... More

Worth the detour as it gives one a very good idea how large glaciers really are... you can also see how much they have melted in the last years.

Lots of driving for 15-20 minutes on the ice. You take a bus from the ticketing area, then a glacier vehicle to actually get on the glacier. There is a small area for you to wander about and take pictures. If you get there when the weather conditions are right (some cloud, some sun, with the wind mixing everything up),... More

It was amazing to walk on ice in summer. I bought a package at Brewsters with Banff Gondola and Lake Minnewanka, and we loved every attraction. This one is special since there are not too many places in the world where you can walk on a glacier. The mega wheel bus is a fun ride. It has a big hill... More

It was great to see the glacier although it's so busy! We got the earliest trip and there were at least ten bus loads of people going up at one time. It was all a bit too touristy for me but it is the best way to see the glacier. We had purchased a ticket to go on the glass... More

Take your beanie and gloves you'll need them! We had pre booked/timed tickets. The staff are all really good, friendly with a sense of humour. You take a bus over to where you get in the Ice Explorer, a large vehicle specially designed to drive on the glacier. The drivers have a lot of information on Glaciers & Ice fields,... More

This is a very worthwhile trip. Very interesting and exciting. The ice explorer is huge. Great fun and a bumpy ride. It snowed the day we did our trip which made it even more special and added to the excitement.
