We were able to view this river at several points and it is always exciting. Our favourite spot is where it joins the Miette River, just watching the merging of the totally different colours of the two rivers is fascinating.

Glaciers are unfortunately disappearing so view the change in natural surroundings before they are gone. This river is fast flowing and fed by the melting glaciers year around.

Took a walk from Jasper town to Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge on the red squirrel trail - it was only supposed to take 45mins but we saw plenty of wildlife and scenery that it took us way longer. Only a few hills otherwise pretty flat walking on a path, reasonably good signage for trails too. Saw elk, birds and heaps... More

We were staying at place that looked out at the river. There is a pretty flat hiking trail along the river. Some of our group walked from town back to their cabins. It took them less than an hour. They were hoping to see some wildlife but didn't. I took a short walk along the river and enjoyed the views.... More

The Athabasca River snakes through Jasper National Park. We were able to get up and close when we stayed at Jasper House Bungalows just south of Jasper. Our cabin backed into the river. We left windows open all night to listen to the sound of the water rushing by.

A friend of mine, a Canadian native who used to be a tour guide in Jasper recommended that I go here. It really is beautiful, as is the entire drive from Lake Louise to Jasper, but unfortunately being so close to the road on such a busy tourist road there does tend to be large crowds and the cement infrastructures... Go for a walk at the trail that goes to the Fort. You might see elkes and squirrels, a blue water and the florest smell. Flat walk, go!

There are many trails close to this River and they are fun to walk. You can see wildlife along the way and the rafters! Great place to explore!

Beautiful clear light blue waters rushing over the mountain rocks. We viewed from our resort just outside of Jasper and loved it. Many tree roots were carved out along the river banks, exposing alien looking formations.

Chalky white river that runs in front of Becker's Chalets that was our home base for three nights while exploring the jasper National Park. We had an opportunity to whitewater raft the river.
