We went to Barkerville on Friday Feb 3. We drove out to go tubing on the new hill up there. It was very fun! Tubes provided and there is a magic carpet conveyer that carries you back up to the top. It has two runs and they aren't very long but are fun. They have a fire going at the... More

We took a road trip to Barkerville via Wells during the summer. It is an original old mining town from the gold rush days with most buildings still in tact and in their original state. There is an original theatre in the center of town where actors still preform plays. It began to rain when we were there so we... More

Enjoyed our second trip back as empty-nesters and bought the whole package to enjoy two days. Gold panned, rode the stagecoach and experienced the shows. Loved the talks with the town's folk and was able to go back to school and feel EXACTLY how I felt back in the 1960's. All kids should experience that one!! Had great weather -... More

My partner and I spent a day and a half in Barkerville, staying on site in The George Hotel. We spent the first evening walking round after closing, which was quite eerie. The next day we spent walking around, did one of the walking tours, the Cornish waterwheel talk ( as we are from a mining area in Cornwall, England),... More

This place has been on my list for years to show my boys some BC history. We finally made it and loved it. Highly recommend staying in the town as it was such a great experience to live there for three days - boys 11 and 13 really loved it. We were off the grid, living in a part of... More

Worth the extra drive time from Quesnel BC. Provincial park ticket price is for 2 days if you want to break it up but one day should be enough. Those with walking difficulties will find it a challenge as town is built on a grade. The main street is not paved, as it was not in it's day, and the... More

The guided tour of the town was excellent and filled with information. A lively and dynamic presenter. We were on a bus tour so our time there was limited. We are going back next year and plan to spend at least two full days there.

My wife and I had both visited Barkerville many years ago on separate occasions (before we met!), and this was the first time back for both of us after a very lengthy absence. We enjoyed it before, and all we can say is that it's got even better over the years. As an example of a preserved heritage community, it's... More

This was our second visit with our family in the past two years. Planned and attended the festival which was really fascinating and wonderfully arranged. There were many musicians and performers including a lion dance; some being quite talented and some who were local. Unfortunately is started late due to rain so we left before the lantern festival and fireworks... More

I've been to many "similar" towns from Arizona to Ephesus, Turkey, but none impressed me more than Barkerville. My ignorance about the gold rush in B.C. was quickly turned into wanting to read and find out more about these important times in history. The town was so authentic, mostly original buildings, stories about families gone by, sometimes it was hard... More
