This is a fantastic museum, with wonderful displays and lovely people working there. Very well thought out and beautifully presented. Loved that the mannequins were made with faces and hands that had been modeled from actual Dawson City residents - added so much character to the displays. I also really enjoyed the upstairs display with some of their "warehoused" collection.

I dropped in for a private appointment as I was in shoulder season. Alex was my great guide for the day, and he & I spent almost three hours going through the exhibits and the living history that still permeates the streets of Dawson. Great place to see!

a perfect place to be introduced to the Klondike Gold Rush era.. They offer various tours in and around the City. We only had one day so choose the option of doing an evening walk with a guide dressed in period costume he regaled us with legends and gossip from the era and we visited some of the old buildings... The gold panning demonstration was excellent. Sadly, the mini-smelter was malfunctioning, but coming from a family where Dad was in mining, my brother and I were familiar with the processes. The museum displays were well laid out. When I mentioned a house that I had seen many years back the archivist actually allowed me to examine the three volumes of... More

Pleasant museum located in the old administrative building, part of which is still used as a circuit court (you can look in). Galleries on either side of the ground floor entrance provide an insight into the lives of the Klondykers, and mannequins tell the stories of current residents as a counterpoint. Upstarirs holds the aforesaid court, and a considerable amount... More

If you're in Dawson City YT, it's all about the history of the last big gold rush and this is the place to visit as it gives you a starting place to better appreciate the restored buildings, the names associated with the various buildings and businesses - the names weren't pulled out of the air - names were associated with... This museum is in a historic and imposing building just off the main street of Dawson. It provided us a really interesting overview of the history of Dawson and its role in the gold rush. In particular, they screened the NFB film about Dawson and Klondike narrated by Pierre Berton. It is still extremely informative and relevant today, even though... More
