Pan for gold in the creek that launched the biggest gold rush the world has ever known. There’s still gold to be found here, all you need is the right combination of patience and luck. Take your pan to Claim #6 on Bonanza Creek, dig some dirt from the surrounding banks and wash it out in the river. Any gold you find, you can keep.

This town was by far the most interesting town in the Yukon. Dawson City had it all, from the show girls at Diamond Tooth Gerties to the Sour Toe challenge at the DownTown hotel. From the wooden boardwalks to swinging doors at the saloons, this...More

Unfortunately the water was quite chilly in September for us to try some panting without some rubber boots, whoever the scenery was beautiful and claim 6 in in a very peaceful setting.

Very pretty creek. Lots of tailings from mining. A number of gold mines are still operating. A gravel road follows the crek.

Try your hand at panning for gold at this free location. You'll need pans and a shovel, so if you don't have your own, make a stop at Claim No. 33 on your way to this location. It's just up the road. They'll show you...More

I didn't come to the Yukon to lay up, so yes I had to go gold panning. It is about the only free place to pan, because of claims put on other land. I hear some folks have been lucky here, but not me. I...More

Claim #6 was one of the places to visit in our trip to the Yukon. The claim is kind of narrow and with lots of people panning for gold. It is free and on the road containing another attractions, like the Dredge #4 We spent...More

When you go to Dawson you just gotta pan for gold and this is the only place you can without claim jumping, what else do I need to say. I was lucky and got gold in my first pan!

Unfortunately, we didn't find any gold... But the activity was fun. Lots of people there trying their luck. Great for kids and families. You need a pan as there is nothing around this claim.

I had my sister's pan and spent an hour diligently panning the gravel, finding nothing. The looking was a lot of fun though, and a lot of work.

I could have panned for gold all day! So much fun; such suspense to thing that you MIGHT have "color" in your pan! Free gold panning along Bonanza Creek was the highlight of my trip to the Yukon! The odd person will find a nugget...More
