The Klondike National Historic Sites of Canada commemorate the 1896 Klondike Gold Rush, the role of large corporation gold mining in the Klondike and river transportation in the Yukon. Dawson City, conveniently located at the junction of the Yukon and Klondike Rivers, quickly became the heart of the gold fields during this time.

The informative guides made the three tours we did lots of fun; the government has done a good job so far restoring the old building in town and wandering around looking and learning about what life was like in the 1900 made it a very interesting tour.

If you enjoy history, take time to have a good look around. I found myself trying to imagine how it was to live there in the time of the Klondike gold rush.

We bought a Prospectors Pack at Park Canada Kiosk in the Info Centre to view the Klondike Historic Sites. We did 3 different tours offered by the Parks with historical dressed guides. Each tour was informative and took us through buildings you would not be able to see if you did not take the tour. The information helped put us... More

There are many historial sites around town to visit and Parks Canada has many tours available from the visitor center. Our tour was $6 per person. We also visited many of these sites on our own and was neat to see the history at the visitor center too.

The staff at the center are every engaging and helpful. Their information is easy to read to understand. Their tours of the city are fun and informative and the only way you can get to visit inside some of the historical buildings.

The tour guide in the picture is actually the same person. She will walk you around town and tell her story of how she came to, and about Dawson City. Very well informed new her stuff. The city heritage and the area is great. Dirt roads so if you go and it's been raining wear proper footwear. Nice city, you... More

First of all, you are almost certainly in Dawson because of history, the Klondike gold rush to be precise, and the visitor centre has the most complete set of brochures and information you are going to find on what is available to see in town. Secondly, it runs several guided walking tours featuring different aspects of life in the area,... More

In school (back in the day) I never like history. But, when I got here I was so surprised. The tour guides take you back in time and present the historical events that happened in Dawson City in a fun and interesting way. It is a great spot for kids, teens, adults...pretty much anybody!

Parks Canada has done an excellent job at making Dawson City as it was in the gold rush come to life with walking tours and placards on historical buildings. Worth the visit.
