Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When my partner and I were plotting and planning our Okanagan itinerary, Riverside Park was one of the “must stop” locations. The combination of high ratings, good words and beautiful pictures won us over and, we thought, promised an epic experience. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the park and explored, we left feeling a little underwhelmed. I mean, it’s a nice park, but far from being the “Most amazing park,” to quote an earlier review.

As we ambled about in the hot summer sun, we enjoyed the greenspace, weeping willow trees, access to the Thompson River and Uji Friendship Garden. The Friendship Garden, by the way, is a nice bit of contemporary history: It signifies the “sister city relationship” between Kamloops and Uji, Japan. In seeing this, I couldn’t help but think of similar arrangements elsewhere in the Province (Prince Rupert and Victoria). It really is nice when we can, as upstanding citizens, form relationship and foster goodwill between different cities and countries. Such symbolism seems distant and challenging in our current day.

In any event, while we weren’t blown away by this park (the #2 thing to do in Kamloops?), I’m sure many others will enjoy it: The children’s waterpark, small beach, basketball and tennis courts speak to a much larger audience. For us, though, it was just a stop.

We had an overnight stay in Kamloops and thought of spending sometime at the Riverside Park. A great park in front of the water with lots of trees, splash park, grass fields, walking trail and a beach. An excellent place to relax. Loved watching the sunset at the pier – gorgeous views.

They have spent a bit of money here to make the park beautiful with gardens and bring in children with playgrounds and a water park. It overlooks the river/lake and is a pleasant spot for a picnic.

Located on the river in downtown Kamloops, riverside park offer plenty of fun for the family.

There is plenty of parking, although the majority of it is not free.

The park offers a beach, water park, child playground, plenty of green space, rose garden and sports facilities.

The park is located minutes from downtown Kamloops which opens up many nice restaurants for lunch or dinner or just a snack.

If you want a cheap day out with the family I would recommend riverside park the place to go.

My only negative comment is that the majority of parking is not free.

In the middle of the downtown, Riverside park is close to Scoopz ice cream and the Shark Club. Nice park with swing sets and pickle ball courts. Here’s the negative: keep your children close because there are many vagrants in this park.

Riverside Park in the heart of Kamloops is one of the crown jewels of parks in B.C. with a beautiful beach, water park, picnic area, basketball court, public washrooms, dedicated swimming area, and amazing trees and green spaces. This is a park you can spend the whole day at without getting bored, we spent nine days straight there with our grandchildren and had a blast at the beach. Happy travels.

The park area along the river is really well maintained. We walked here this morning and the mountain and river views are spectacular. We also saw the Rocky Mountaineer pull out of the station and we purchased local strawberries at the nearby Farmer's Market in the downtown area which is there on Wednesdays. I recommend a walk across the Red Bridge which is nearby.

After getting of the Train, needed to streach our legs and we deceided to walk around town a bit and this park was 3 blocks from our Hotel. Very nicely kept, has a beautiful rose garden, and area for kids to play, tennis courts, and outstanding views. If you do a stop in Kamloops take a short walk to Riverside and enjoy the views for free!!
