This walk is more or less a straight line to a bluff with a great view. A great view. I don't come here for a walk (it is a disappointing walk), I come here to enjoy the view. I like taking visitors here from off...More

This park is popular with the locals as it is so close to residential properties. It is more of a relaxation place for us. We like it for a Sunday afternoon picnic. If one is lucky enough to get one of a few spots atop...More

Great place to visit for visitors and locals alike. See the ferry come to Nanaimo's Departure Bay. Lots of wildlife yet close to city.

We saw a mama killer whale and her baby there which is cool. Parking can be a little hectic in peak times (especially near end of June with multiple school trips a day). Definitely worth a visit.

Piper's Lagoon is one of the best parks in Nanaimo. It is peaceful, picturesque, and filled with nature. It is especially good for children because they can participate in free play by climbing on rocks (the original jungle gym). The trail is easy, and there...More

This park is much smaller than Neck Point, More locals walking dogs & less tourists from what I could tell. The bathroom here was better than Neck Point, even the parking is better. Good for a shorter, quiet trip to the water.

I would say no. It is in a protected harbour so not too much for wind and no waves.

Yes, you can ride the in-coming tide at Piper's 's channel. It is an exhilarating experience akin to swimming down a horizontal waterfall. Be aware that you should be a strong swimmer or wear a life jacket. Be sure to go... More
