Halifax has its Citadel, Quebec City has its ramparts, Annapolis Royal has Fort Anne. Nanaimo has a short tower. Sorry, it just doesn't measure up. Pass.

Last wooden bastion standing so see it! Strange that it is a stand alone but that is what also makes it special. Many businesses and things are named Bastion - - - easily recognizable landmark.

This three story structure is a great getaway for the historically minded. The staff is very helpful and the displays are well laid out. The noon gun firing is also very exciting!
