unbelievable that i did not know about this spot after living in the area for over 30 years. I've been to pipers lagoon and enjoyed my walk there.
this waterfront and environmentally sensitive park is accessed off hammond bay road just north of pipers lagoon.
as we arrived a class from the nearby school arrived, loved the sound of their excited voices. don't hear that often during covid times. wonderful they can do field trips here.
from the good sized parking lot one arrives at picturesque finn beach.
walking to the left one comes to a viewing platform where the park stores equipment.
this area was privately owned until 2009. the acquisition now provides 36 acres of parkland.
the view from here is towards pipers lagoon and shack island and the stait of georgia. the shacks are privately owned, built in 1930.
beautiful sunny day to see the islands of texada and leasqueti from the large wooden viewing area along the way.
the groves of garry oak and well maintained tralls make for a pleasant walk.
the eagle in one of the trees was a bonus as were the sea lions swimming by.
there are a number of pebbled beaches waiting to be explored.
we walked past last beach which is known for its scuba diving.
sunset beach obviously would be popular.
walked back through the forest to the parking lot.
a 1.8 km loop trail. next time we'll walk it twice.
better late at discovering this wonderful park than never!

We really love the different beaches and the diverse scenarios we get here. This summer we visited many beaches and after a while they tend to look the same. But the beaches at Neck Point Park really got us excited! There were some rabbits and deers here too! Perfect place to relax!

We didn't have much time before sunset but enjoyed the short hike along the waterfront. We intended to return another day but ran out of time. Would have loved to have spent more time hiking the other trails and enjoying a picnic lunch by the water

We arrived later than planned and noted the gate closes at 10pm. We hurried to Neck Point beach for a stunning sunset. We could see that at low tide, there would be interesting things to see in the water.

Great short walk in March between the out-bursts of liquid sunshine. Paths are good even when wet but of course use the handrails for going up the stairs to the lookout. There was a seal having a good fishing day in the bay and lots of birds are moving back into the area. Lots of interpretive signage also.

This was easy to find and a hidden gem. besides the gorgeous views there are hiking trails and viewpoints. Some of the paths are paved and some more rugged. You get a really good views of the ocean. there are flush potties and outdoor showers. Picnic tables and parking but its limited and this is a very popular place. Not supposed to camp here but i did see a camper in there over night. They lock the gates and open them again at 6 am. This is a must see

You could go here for the entire day there are so many things to do and see. It’s absolutely amazing. The parking lot is small but there are lots of places to park and walk in. I highly recommend this park. Easy walk, lots of beaches and picnic areas.

An amazing park in the center of Nanaimo. This is a super popular park, busy all day. With spectacular beaches and amazing views, it's a g great place to spend the day. There are picnic tables all around to enjoy that picnic lunch on a picture perfect day.
We went many times to this park and enjoyed it every time.

Our kids love going to this park - it is nice and easy to get around. They have cute little fairy doors -- one opens and you can take a toy/leave a toy. Sometimes there is glitter on the path - super cute. Also nice places to stop and have a picnic, enjoy the ocean view.

We visit the park regularly to go for walks. One of the trails is paved so if you have a stroller you can still make your way through the park. The rest of the park has easy access with some stairs. There are little beaches where you can go in the water swimming or kayaking but as the short is quite rocky I would recommend wearing aqua-socks. There are even hidden fairy doors along some of the trails. This is one of Nanaimo's best parks.

HI,there is a swimming/wading area, but it is very course, stoney beach. If you decide to test the water, or even walk on the beach, wear durable footwear.

I would say that there would be hundreds of people there everyday. Sometimes it's hard to find a parking spot.

The City of Nanaimo lists it as not Wheelchair accessible if that is what you are meaning.
