Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The young person behind the desk was so friendly and helpful...nothing was too much trouble. He took the time to explain the heritage walk and provided all the maps we needed, plus the recipe to the famous Nanaimo Bar. Thank you for being so kind and helpful. We followed the heritage route around time and had a beer at the old railway station. We ended our visit at the museum...a oerfect day.

I stopped in at the end of the day on a Saturday. I was warmly greeted by Lisa and Jill. I was there to pick up some brochures and maps - I wanted to freshen up the information I keep at my condo. I couldn’t have asked for friendlier or more helpful ambassadors for what Nanaimo and area has to offer. They were knowledgeable about all of the areas, offered excellent suggestions for things to do, places to eat, shop and provided resources for me to take. What a refreshing experience, well done ladies!

This is a great little rest stop but it is Gay Guy Central. All times of the night and day. Hopefully they lock the bathrooms at night.

Definitely worth a stop to get info about Nanaimo and surrounding area. There was a nice variety of brochures to choose from on just about every activity in the area. Also had a nice dog park beside the centre for those who travel with their pets.

Our group visited the centre and learned a lot about Nanaimo, including the parks and trails in the area and the Nanaimo Bar tour - where you could tour and try the different Nanaimo bars and what attractions to visiti. They provided maps and brochures and online information to our group. They are very welcoming and helpful and informative. They make you want to take time to visit Nanaimo. They have a dog park at the stop and a walk in the surrounding area and washrooms.

I'm from Nanaimo but have stopped by here a few times to check out brochures, ask questions, and stop for breaks while biking the parkway trail. Staff are quite friendly and helpful, nice place to stop by.

Great to hear our locals are using the Visitor Centre and rest stop area! Thanks for letting us know we are doing a good job. We also have free wifi now if that helps (we see this review was from awhile ago now - sorry for the delay in replying!) Grateful you took the time to write. Hope to see you again soon!

I love the setting - a small, friendly-looking building with sod on top! Easy parking, and easy to find. The 2 ladies inside were knowledgable about local hiking areas, and made us feel welcome.

Thanks for coming by! We are so happy to hear that our staff were knowledgeable and helpful when you popped in. We get a lot of comments about the roof, you'd be surprised! People keep saying to put goats up like at Coombs ;)
Hope to see you in Nanaimo again soon!

We were so glad we dropped by, as all the suggestions and maps came in so handy and helped us have a good time in the one day stay in Nanaimo. The lady that helped us was friendly and lots of fun. A very positive start to our stay.

Mount Benson is the backdrop for this funky grass roofed, glass walled tourist info center the corner of Northfield & the Parkway highway in the Nanaimo area.
It is a great place to stop to collect information on the surrounding area. Also, there are bathroom facilities, taps to fill water bottles, an off leash dog park & lots of parking.
You can park you car & walk or bike the paved Parkway Trail that leads to many of Nanaimo's beautiful parks, VIU, & the seawall.
Don't drive by without stopping. It is a very special spot.

Why isn't benson creek falls principal park on trip advisor?
Written 31 October 2016
Good question, Sue. We don't own the property...so can't own it on TA either. You could request to the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) that they add it?
