A great natural park. Winding trails through the woods and along the river, bridges and creeks, beavers, and if you look carefully...carvings in some of the trees ("forest faces").

Cottonwood Island is a nature oasis at the confluence of the Nechako and Fraser Rivers. It's a great place to walk or run the trails meandering through the park. We've spotted bears, deer, moose, foxes, rabbits, beavers, otters, eagles and ospreys on our walks. In May when the Cottonwood leaves are opening, the smell is wonderful. If you come with... More

Visited last in August 2016. Access by walking through ft. George park and walk down along under the bridge. You will come upon a gravel parking lot. Different paths all lead towards the river. Bridge you can walk over near end of the lot. See people walking, cycling, and some taking their dogs out for a walk. Sign warning about... More

We walked reminiscing over meeting friends and old times. Good trail clean and relaxing.Colours were mix of yellow and brown as trees were losing leaves.

Blink and you miss it, and really it is like a movie with one sample of the movie, and that is the only scene worth seeing. Mind you, a nice walk, or picnic. Close to Railway Museum, so tie them together. River view is spectacular.

Nice to step away from the city and take a walk in nature. We saw many squirrels and a fox! We also enjoyed the carvings in the trees.

We stumbled upon this park after seeing the Railway Museum. We walked along the paths with a couple of strangers and looked for the carvings in the trees together. Very enjoyable.

I recently visited Prince George and my sister took me to this beautiful spot. This is a leisurely place to go for a walk. My son enjoyed looking for the faces in the trees. There was some flooding a couple of years ago and not all the trails have been repaired.

I go to this park several times each week throughout the year. It is my favorite dog walking place. It is not an off leash park; however, most people do let their dogs walk free and is rarely a problem. There are many bird species in the park and the bird watching varies throughout the year. I have seen deer,... More

Take a walk through the cottonwoods as you follow the windy paths that pass over bridges, by the river, through a green grass field and over streams. While you are there watch for wild birds, squirrels and such as there always seems to be bird seeds and nuts for these little guys. Another thing to do is look up because... More
