Although this is a long way from home, I love making this trip to my favorite ski slopes. The powder is excellent and the resort is not overloaded. The local area is small and you need to plan where to stay ahead of time.

My ski club had a wonderful time here. The first time any of us had been there. We were impressed by the size of the mountain, great conditions, and friendly people.

Plenty of ski terrain, groomers, trees, bumps and wide open fields which are all a delight with fresh powder which I experienced twice during my 2 week stay. Its a bit of a quandry for the locals and the resort operator as to whether they...More

I am looking into Red Mountain for this ski season. I have seen quite a few comments about the groomers and there not being many. I am on carving skis so I love steep, open and wide groomers to carve my heart out on. Can anyone let me know how many slopes are groomed (it says on the resort's home page that there are 110 runs but am now wondering how many of those are actually groomed) and is the grooming good? I am also a more advanced skier so are there really good runs and long ones? What is the average length of the runs? Does anyone know what the average temp in winter is for the resort? I have also seen that the lifts are super slow - how long does it take on a chair and are there bubbles over any of the chairlifts to increase warmth? Final question - is there a supermarket in the two or do you have to go to Rossland to do shopping? Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the delayed response, been moving around. Truth be told, Red is really an off piste tree skiing paradise. There are not many groomed runs which is a blessing to some and not to others. For advanced skiers there are... More
