I'd call this area of land a fine example of nature preserve. You can explore some of it without fee, but it's probably best to visit the visitors' centre to discover all the park has to offer. No parking is allowed without this permit, however the drive through the grounds shows the beauty of the forested area. There are many trails, both wooded and beach and work continues to make the area more user friendly.

Perhaps another year will be better. Showers closed up while people bathe in washroom stalls, dish sink area, campsites and outside cold water shower area. Makes absolutely no sense. Provincial campsite showers are all open. The experts keeping saying wash your hands cause the virus doesn’t survive hot soapy water. Plus the bathroom doors are wide open yet we are warned about bears. The guy selling wood is completely freaked out about visitors. “Get away from me” were his words as I asked about the wood.

The nature around the park is beautiful, but the way the park is running everything kind of takes away from the experience. So many park rangers just walking/driving around not really doing much. The spent about 30 minutes following us around to tell us to put our dog on a leash when we were the only ones on the beach, well away from everything. Tried to say it was because of shorebirds, but it's not the migration time and Im sure all your human actives have a great impact than a dog swimming.

Long Beach is famous for its long stretches of sandy beaches, dramatic shoreline, and powerful surf. It's a popular spot for surfing, beachcombing, and taking in beautiful sunsets. Visitors can stroll along the sandy shores, watch the crashing waves, and enjoy the coastal scenery.

The roadside biking trail appears newly constructed and paved. We did see a bear on the bike path! The inland hiking has many trails, while the beach areas seem never ending. Great untouched beauty.

Spent time here with the family in summer of 2022. This park is so large that at least it’s not crammed with people. A lot of very beautiful and wild country. Trails to hike, wandering beaches and bike paths, gives everyone lots of space. We dropped in at the grocery store and then took the short Combers Beach trail to the beach and wandered along till we found a totally secluded spot to have a picnic lunch. We walked miles and miles along the beach. Virtually alone. The beaches further north have more people. Also a beautiful drive to the west side of the island. I think at one place it shows a 17% grade on the road. Easily spend 5 days or even a week depending on interests.

So beautiful, lots of gorgeous nature to see and we got some great photos. We split our time between hiking trails and exploring the beaches. We have come to Tofino and Ucluelet several times in later summer but late May/early June was better timing - way less hot for us. Enjoyed the forest in the rain.

During our stay in Tofino, we explored several trails within and outside of Pacific Rim National Park. Park management has done an incredible job providing board walks through some otherwise inaccessible terrain allowing for a truly incredible experience in the rain forest. Both Rainforest trails are worth the hike and at approximately 50 minutes including photo stops easy to handle.

Probably one of the most beautiful places in Canada. A friend called it spiritual, it definitely is awe inspiring. During a stormy day with high winds, the power of the ocean is memorizing. The day after the storm with the sun breaking through the clouds is even more so. Do all the beach walks. The two short rainforest trails are very beautiful. So glad we experienced this national park.

Just off Highway 4 between Ucluelet and Tofino, there are two rainforest walks, one on either side of the road. At the time of our visit Walk B was closed. Walk A was mostly interesting. The walk way is a little narrow with no railings at the side, so you spend some time watching where you out your feet. Some fantastic trees to be seen. It is 1200m long but be warned it has quite a lot of steps.

We only have a few days on Vancouver Island and I would like to see whales and my husband wants to see bear are we likely to see either ,we arrive in Vancouver on the 21st of September.We will be in bc for 6 days. Thank you

There is a good chance for both. They can be seen from the beach but if you only have 6 days better to check one of the tours in tofino. There are several companies and they all seem to have success. Check their reviews

As for the dogs, you will find relevant sections nearly at all beaches.

No there is not.
There is a paved path for pedestrians and cyclists that goes from downtown Tofino to Jamie's Rainforest Inn, after that it is just Pacific Rim Highway,
It is single lane both ways and the speed limit is posted at 80 km/h. If you are a confident cyclist the highway will be fine, if you are not - I would not recommend it, it will not be a relaxing memorable experience

Hi, I’ll be driving from Victoria just for few hours to Tofino. It’s a long drive. And just wondering what are the most important things to see in Tofino? Is rainforest trail in Pacific Rim National Park? Where does the trail start? And what’s the best beach to visit in Tofino? I was thinking of Long Beach. We are just two adults,no kids.

There are many beautiful trail the one we should suggest is the trails near ulchelet , they are the pacific trail system . People co e from all over the world to storm watch or get some r and r. They do have a visitors info place where you could get lots of info you are requiring and how easy hikes to hard hikes are . They is accommodations there as well from camping to the besutiful inn which is quite pricey but worth it . We camped and stayed at the best western . On your way stop and revel in the d the Douglas old growth forest of trees a d the majestic mountains . Enjoy your stay

We have a rental car and are hoping to go for a drive along the island. Also, which are the best drives in terms of scenery and for making the most of this beautiful island? Thankyou.

You can take a ferry from Vancouver to Victoria, then drive North out of Victoria and West across the island on Highway 4 to Tofino. It's a beautiful drive across the island, the latter 2/3rds of the drive are through amazing mountains and forests. You can stop about halfway at Cathedral Grove to see some amazing giant Douglas Fir trees, some of which are several hundreds of years old and hundreds of metres tall! That's what we did on our trip recently and I thoroughly recommend it!

Hello! Planning on spending one day hiking the various trails in this park. Having never been there, I've been doing some research and have narrowed it down to Schooner trail, south beach trail, rainforest trails A and B, and Nuu Chah Nulth trail. Are there others I should consider?

I have hiked most of the trails in the Pacific Rim park at least once. If you only have a day to hike the ones you mentioned will more than fill the day if you spend any time looking around. If you have more than one day I would suggest you go to the Wild Pacific trail, Ucluelet BC. they have several trails but at this time they are not all connected but with a brief walk through the town you can make it an interlocking trail.
we also like the Willowbrae Trail in Pacific Rim National Park.

Buongiorno, noi abbiamo usato la macchina per arrivare ai vari punti di accesso dove si trovano i parcheggi e poi partono i vari sentieri che permettono passeggiate di diverse "difficoltà" è durata. Se non lo avete già fatto visitate il sito ufficiale del parco, trovate tutte le mappe e i le indicazioni.

Either at the Amphitrite lighthouse or at the south end of that part of the trail (Lighthouse loop) that goes alongside the sea (where the sea is called "cemetary of the ocean" (because of all the ship wrecks)).

Is this place good for a day trip in December? Is there anywhere to stay around?

I would say a day trip is too short. You will not have enough time to see most of the beautiful places there. December is rainy in this area. You can stay in Ucluelet or Tofino. I love all seasons there but if you don't like rainy weather you can consider your visit in winter time.
