Great water and mountain view from the busy city center of Vancouver, and a convenient place to take free shuttles to a few other attractions. This is a must-visit site to experience the beauty of the city, walk distance (along the water) to the beautiful Stanley Park. And if you come to Vancouver for business/shopping, the Convention Center is right... More

Nice place for a walk by the seawall. FlyOver Canada could be a choice, about $35/person for adults.

As this attraction was so close to our accommodation, it was easy for us to explore its surrounds. It was at night though that we were particularly taken with it. The Christmas decorating was really a sight to behold, so many beautifully decorated trees and the window displays were enchanting. We got some gorgeous photos from up close and from... More

Set on the waterfront this large building looks like an ocean going liner - so impressive. Inside is a hotel, starting point for cruise ship holidays, a discovery centre and Fly Over Canada right at the end. We went at Christmas time so saw a display of Christmas trees that had been decorated by stores and charities etc. To see... More

Its a very nice area of downtown Vancouver to stroll or for gatherings. The hop on hop off bus comes here and it is also one of the places for buses that takes people to and from the Capilano suspension bridge hangs out. It's a nice walking area. There are shops and restaurants near by. The view of the mountains... More

Still holding its own despite being over 30 years old. The very distinctive sails are a Vancouver landmark. It's a great location very close to transit and connected to the Pan Pacific hotel.

I visited Canada Place with a friend this past week. It was a beautiful day and the view in mid-afternoon and then early evening when the lights came on was very beautiful. One can experience several views of the port, local buildings, etc. and while walking on the outside on the deck path see the provinces and cities listed from... More

If in Vancouver in December/January, do not miss the German Christmas Market in Canada Place. It's cold so winter gear required. Arrived around 3pm, left around 5pm. This is a must. Incredible variety of food, stalls selling everything from beer mugs to local crafts, Christmas tree decorations (queues to enter). Food so good that there are many queues. Buy a... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
