INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING!! You can only visit the place for 5 minutes, there is a man yelling at you to get out of the place constantly, you can definitely tell he HATES his job.
There is not even an option to park for less than an hour. Yet the visits are timed and rushed by the staff.
Worst of all it was plagued with unadvertised mice, in the 5 minutes we were there, we saw at least 10 of them. They climb the plants/trees and walk all over your feet. Not sure if they are part of the exhibition but very worry some.
Sadly, I would NOT recommend this place.

We went to the conservatory for a 10am visit and purchases tickets online a few days before. Entry was quick and easy and the covid protocols were great. Not overly busy and 45 minutes to spend. Could easily go a few rounds and still have extra time. Our 2 year old loved all the birds and colors.

I attended Oct 19, 2021 and booked my ticket in advance. It was a rainy day so not busy outside. Inside the dome I spent the allotted hour reading all the materials and signs. Lots of workers busy planting bulbs and doing maintenance before the winter. Beautiful spot, would love to see it at different times of year.

A beautiful conservatory, full of amazing flowers/plants/trees with the added attraction of some very colourful/entertaining birds, especially the cockatoo who shouts "peek a boo" at regular intervals. It was lovely to watch this bird being groomed/stroked through all her(?) feathers by a very caring keeper(?) as the bird obviously enjoyed the whole experience. Also lots of small, free flying birds in the canopy if you took the time to search for them, although the very approachable/informative volunteer guide I had the pleasure to talk with informed me there were not as many as there were pre-Covid. I spent a most enjoyable couple of hours here. Only the unseasonably warm, sunny October day made me spend less time than I would have liked. I imagine it's even more appealing on a wet or cold day.

This place is amazing! We made a day of it and had lunch at Seasons afterwards and it was such a memorable, fun day. I’ve been to Vancouver so many times and had never visited the conservatory before. My mom and I went and had a lovely time. I will definitely be back with my children next time we’re in town! Very inexpensive too.

I enjoyed my visit to the Conservatory. It was $5.50 and really worth twice the admission charge. It consists of a tropical garden/jungle with various species of birds from warmer and more humid climes. It was interesting and educational and suitable for both young and old. It is accessible, however it is possible that those with breathing conditions may find the humidity oppressive.

Nestled in Queen Elizabeth Park is a gem. The Blooded Conservatory is a must to see. Careful...It's warm in there! Meander your way along the path to view plants, trees and even some animals here and there.

First visit to Conservatory in a long time with out of town friends. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Birds and plants were very interesting. But, unfortunately, there is a horrible infestation of mice. They're running all over the place getting fat off bird seed. I'm concerned for my health with all the feces this causes. Contaminates may become airborne just by walking around. I think this needs addressing immediately. It would be a shame to see this facility get closed over this issue.

Hi, i will be on holiday in Vancouver and would like to visit the conservatory by public transport from downtown. Any info on bus nos pls?
Written 28 July 2017
I agree that the Canada Line is a very efficient way of getting to the Conservatory. But so much depends on what your starting point is: downtown, Airport, Richmond. The transit system has a brilliant web site that helps you plan your travel, with maps and schedules. The trip planner lets you enter your starting point and the Bloedel as the destination. The TransLink site will answer most of your other questions about getting around.

are small dogs allowed. in the park
are dog allowed
Written 23 June 2017
Let us differentiate between dogs in Queen Elizabeth Park, the area where the Conservatory is located, and the Conservatory itself. There is a note on the Vancouver parks web site to the effect that dogs are welcome in the park as long as they are on a leash and as long as the owner picks up after his or her dog. I remember seeing dogs in the park as we went in to the Conservatory site. However, I suspect that small animals of any kind are not admitted to the Conservatory, if only because of the potential that an excited animal might scare the resident birds. This is a question that you should ask, by phone, of the Conservatory staff. I would expect an answer in the negative.

How do we get to the conservatory from downtown (Burrard St)? Is there public transit?
Written 10 April 2017
Yes. You can get there on the sky train (our subway). You can get off at the King Edward station and then either walk (it's a bit of a hike. Maybe 1 km?) or take the 15 bus. There's a park and a restaurant up there too so you can stay for a few hours and make it worth the little trip.
