Multi-media astronomy shows in the Planetarium Star Theatre are enhanced by 20-minute live demonstrations in the GroundStation Canada Theatre that keep you up-to-date on the latest space news. The Cosmic Courtyard ehibit gallery contains a real piece of moon rock you can actually touch, a J-2 Rocket Engine, artifacts and simulations. On Saturday nights you can visit the Gordon MacMillan Southam Observatory right next door and, if the skies are clear, you can see stars and maybe even a planet through the .5 metre Cassegrain telescope.

The HR Macmillan Space Centre is pretty interesting as a smaller scale museum. It has a handful of space mission artifacts and a few exhibits where people can learn about space travel, but also other geological processes that affect the earth. A planetarium show is included in your ticket and it's worth a watch. The host of the show typically... More

Almost of the activities are broken or used old computer programs... The only things that we appreciated were the planetarium movie and the scientific explanations offered in the small auditorium. It is very small for the price we paid and not very explicative vs google information that we can have at home...

I have not been at the HR Macmillan Space Centre for years. There are some things that have changed, but other things that have not. The little demonstrations are nice and the planetarium show on volcanoes was interesting. Other than a few activities, there could be more interactive displays. In the past they had a simulator that sought to give... More

Went to the MacMillan space centre this December and at the beginning looked nice, but as soon as you realize that the hole thing is just one room with a few things (which most of them are no longer working) the disappointment starts to fall. After 15 minutes there's nothing more to see, and the ticket it's way to expensive... More

It is a cool place, the theatres shows are considered for children because of the way the topics are dealt with, but they are only simple and practical explanations of science's laws. There are a lot of different interesting planetarium shows and the little exhibition about adventures in space is really nice too.

The space center used to be much more user-friendly. They closed down the gift shop years ago, and now there's not much to do there except watch the ho-hum shows. The staff are not particularly knowledgeable or helpful.

Although I am fairly certain that the space centre and its exhibits deserve a better rating than I am giving, my rating is based on the fact that I was unable to actually be admitted. We attempted to go on a Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, only to be informed that the centre was closing for the day at 3:00. We... More

I grew up going to the Vancouver Planetarium at the HR MacMillan space centre. Chairs recline and the guid takes you on a tour through space to see galaxies, planets, stars, nebula, black holes, and more. As an adult I took my family here, and all the kids love it. Take your kids or go with a friend or date!

Having walked over the rather long Burrard Bridge I had hoped for more then what was on display. The price included a film/presentation (we opted for Black Holes) which was OK but not exceptional.

One of the favoured neighbourhoods for a day out, Granville Island's packed theatres and art studios, hobby shops and book stores, restaurants and bars, all offer a plethora of activities and entertainment options, leaving no one bored. The highlight of the area is the Fisherman's Wharf, where the seagulls overhead and the smell of the sea invigorate its many visitors, some of who are there to shop the fresh wares at the public market, and others of whom have arrived to take in the eclectic atmosphere.
