Worthy of a 1/2 day visit
There is a huge market with fresh food, merchandise & restaurants, also specialty stores. Perfect place to visit for 1/2 a day. The market place opens before the specialty stores; don't go too early if you are going for the specialty stores. We took an Uber there, but you can get there by aqua bus also.

    Great market for foodies
We visited Granville Island whilst we were in Vancouver and had a really good time. There is lots of fresh food available, but some really good places that serve food as well. The Oyama Sausage Company was particularly good. The member of staff who served us was very helpful. He helped us choose what meats to buy, and the meat we had was delicious. The bagel shop (Siegel’s Bagels) was also very good- they did a very good breakfast bagel. Lee’s Donuts also does very good donuts. Overall, I’d definitely recommend a trip here as the food is very good and it is very close to downtown Vancouver.

    Absolute “Must Visit”
What an amazing place. My friend Am I spent almost 6 hours wandering the markets - an eclectic mix of shops and fresh produce. Parking was cheap and plentiful as were prices. Obviously some of the higher end artisan stuff was a bit more expensive, but pieces are one offs and workmanship stunning. Thoroughly recommend it as a “must visit” when in Vancouver

    Crowded, But Worth It
We love public markets (e.g.. Seattle's Pike Street), and the Granville Public Market may be the best we've been to in the US or Canada. Fascinating and varied food offerings. Good artists. A visual feast. And, if we'd come for a meal, a real feast too. Just about every kind of food you can think of is there, fresh and beautifully displayed. A couple of pointers. First, the place is crowded. You need to be patient. Second, some vendors take only cash, which might not be a problem, but the two AMTs in the market were both out of order. Third, the place closes at 6 p.m., which is later than many of the eateries in the area.

    Crowded but Fun
Definitely worth a visit to explore and then have a meal. I recommend sitting outside by the water after getting your food. A nice mix of food options and farmers market type stalls. Just be aware that it will likely be very crowded and that everything closes at 5 pm.

A Must Do In Vancouver. Go With Patience And An Appetite!
You know it's funny. We were way more bothered by the crowds at other outdoor parks and venues in Vancouver than at Granville Market. Maybe it's because we have a very good market in Cincinnati, Ohio that is always crowded, so we are use to it. We enjoyed this huge place very much. The variety of food to purchase is immense and everyone working behind the counters was lovely. We purchased items we didn't need at all (like juice caviar - basically bubble tea balls to add to sparkling wine. And way more licorice than I ever need), and practical items to back to our suite for dinner. There are also excellent places to get lunch. We had authentic Pad Thai at a place called Sen Pad Thai. For all the people, we only had to wait about 15 minutes. It was a little difficult to find a place to sit. We ended up outside on a bench. We did Uber from our hotel so we didn't have to worry about parking. I highly advise doing this.

    Getting There is a Hassle
It was complicated getting to Granville Market from downtown Vancouver. While I enjoyed the ecclectic food and relaxing vibe, I didn't find it worth the effort just for a simple meal. Anyone who is planning to take the trip would benefit from staying a while and having the chance to explore the island.

    Must see Market.
An amazing selection of goods, fruit and bakery items for sale. The fruit displays were awesome. Fresh Cherries and Strawberries. We did not have enough time as we were on a tour but you could spend a day there. You can have lunch and listen to music.

    Worth a stop
Our large group were on a day trip and the tour guide allocated an hour to go through the entire market. First impressions were omg look at the fresh fruit, pastries, veggies and delicious foods.. The donuts are delicious and not too be missed. Coffee is great too. A prime Lunch stop or mid afternoon or morning for brunch. Loads of options. Also the stores offer unique purchases away from food. A great experience and you definitely need more than an hour.

    Wonderful experience
Granville Island Public Market is quite an exciting place to visit if you love food! There are countless stalls selling all types of food, from fish and meat to vegetables and lovely fruit, like berries and other exotic delights! There are many other shops as well selling all kinds of merchandise. Perfect place to have lunch! We caught the Aquabus from downtown and it only took a few dollars and a few minutes to get to Granville Island. Wonderful experience.

I don't go to Vancouver often, so Granville Island is always a treat. Come hungry to try bites at all the stalls (and early to get parking!). We ate a fresh warm donut, bought different kinds of salmon nuggets, admired the houseboats, browsed through the awesome catalogue of classes and all the beautiful textiles and fibers at Maiwa, and swooned after the tiny, cute, colorful ferry boats. There's always interesting crafts and artwork both in and around the market. Can't wait to come back!

Our friends who had visited this place highly recommended it but warned us about parking both on the island and near ferry stations, especially given this being a Canadian long weekend holiday. We walked about two miles from our hotel to the Aquatic Museum ferry stop. For me the ferry ride there after a short wait was the highlight of this visit. The Public Market was jam packed with tourists. The cavernous interior features a great variety of eateries, souvenir shops, bakeries, juice bars, butcher shops, etc.,very similar to many large food hall and farmer markets we had seen elsewhere in California, New York, Montreal, and Europe.

I don’t understand why this market and its environs are so appealing. We visited it a weekday in July, and found it excessively crowded. Seats were scarce, and the crowds were pushy. Sure, the market has some nice stands; but most likely those products could be found elsewhere in the City. The shops outside of the market ranged from being tasteful, but overpriced to tacky souvenir places.

Loved going through the market - so much to see, smell and experience. So many colourful displays. Food items are on the pricey side but you can pretty much find anything that you would like to eat here.

The island (really a peninsula?) is packed with shops that cater to tourists. Lots of restaurants and stores selling art and souvenirs. The indoor public market was the most interesting to us, as you could buy a wide variety of foods from booth and also fresh produce. There are also docks full of small boats. Besides that, there are no special views. Go if you have extra time or like wandering among shops and restaurants.

Best public market I’ve visited. Originally thought this was going to be a tourist trap but it’s phenomenal. The food options are extensive - and in my opinion, mostly high quality. You can find everything from baked goods to curries to deli food to pretty much anything else. Feel like a coffee or a fresh juice? They’ve got that too! There’s also vendors selling things like seasonings/salts, chocolates, souvenirs, etc. Most days, there are buskers outside, so you can sit down with your food, enjoy the view and some local talent as well. Easy to access via ferry or walking, you can drive but parking appears to be limited.

Every time I am in Vancouver I visit. The market is beautiful and full of fresh and delicious food. There’s also live music and tons of shops from souvenir, to clothing, to art. The atmosphere is great with the colourful buildings on the seaside. Highly recommend!

We always come here when in Vancouver. This market continues to thrive despite the pandemic and that made us happy! We visited Granville Island today and were disappointed to see so many stores and restaurants had not survived the pandemic, BUT the market is still here and as busy as ever.

There is such a variety of food stands and eateries in there, that there is literally something for everyone. We always love Terra Breads with their lovely baking. You can spend a good hour or more in here exploring and getting fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, cheese etc. Highly recommend visiting when in Vancouver.
