We visited the symphony twice during January and sat in the orchestra section and dress circle. It did not matter where we sat as the view was excellent. The pieces of music were wonderful although I am no expert on classical music. The talks before the concert were very informative and put the composers into context. I highly recommend you... More

The Orpheum Theatre is a stunning venue and we got to hear the Symphony play the John Williams score to Raiders of the Lost Arc as we watched the movie on a large screen behind them. A fun evening!

Well the day has arrive that I have to leave Vancouver... Well after exploring a ton I found about the orchestra while taking a wrong turn. They have "rush tickets" which they sell cheaper to fill the empty seats. After getting one I enter it's a nice building I got a seat on the back. It was a nice experience... More

Love that they have special guests. We saw Chris Hadfield. He did some great songs but it went on a bit too long and we didn't love the songs he did that his brother wrote. I seemed like only his family would appreciate the home grown songs.

What could be better? The iconic Orpheum Theatre, live symphony orchestra and a classic movie,....Harry Potter. We were lucky enough to obtain 2 tickets at the back where the view is limited,...and it was still spectacular. The VSO is hosting classic movies at Vancouver's Classy Orpheum Theatre. The limited view seating is not really a problem, if those are the... More

My daughter treated us to their Christmas concert and it was fabulous - it was at St. Andrews United church with the UBC Opera and Enchor Choir - excellent show - great music and atmosphere. There is so many talented people who share their gifts and it was a pleasure to sit and listen to the music, the instruments, the... More

Yup, I love rock, concerts, metal...all that. Went to the Pokemon Symphonic Evolutions show and was floored by the sound, the quality and showmanship. These guys (and gals) are for real, fabulous musicians and a real class act. Just felt bad they had to dress like 'grown-ups', fancy dresses, suits and ties...

Can't recommend enough. World class. Will be back soon!! We went to the North Shore Classics performance on June 1. We were just blown away by the soloist, guest conductor and the orchestra.

Attended concert at the University of British Columbia's Chan Center on 30 May 2015, and was very pleased that I had reserved the tickets before I arrived in Vancouver. The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is world class, as was the violin soloist, and the Chan Center was the perfect venue, with great acoustics. Add to that, the staff is friendly and... More

Our New Years celebration took place on New Years day. We went to" Salute to Vienna" performed by the Vancouver Symphony at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver, B.C. To be held in such a wonderful Heritage theatre was a delight. The building is a pure delight just to enter and discover. A vast place. Then the symphony Orchestra just gathered you... More

Staying in Granville Street

Neighbourhood Profile
Granville Street
Granville Street spans many, multiple city blocks and has become so fastidiously known for its nightclubs and watering holes that it's fondly nicknamed the city's 'Entertainment District.' Friday and Saturday nights are the most popular and lively, with young revelers taking to the streets in droves and keeping the party going until late. Granville Street, being mostly open to pedestrian-only traffic, has a healthy social life along its main thoroughfares, even outside of its cafes and pubs, spilling onto the sidewalks. The locals are chatty, the shops at its expansive Pacific Centre Mall are trendy, and the whole area seems to be on a sugar rush: in a good way. Exuberance and camaraderie classify this neighbourhood.
