Vancouver is not a massive metropolitan town that can be walked, especially the downtown in less than 30 minutes....getting lost along the Granville and Robson Streets with their wide array of shops was truly enjoyable!

Vancouver is one of those cities where are you always feel safe and comfortable. The streets are kept clean the litter and the skyline is really quite something. The fact that Vancouver has ocean and mountains, forests makes it really quite unique. The city is very easy to get around in either by sky train or bus. Often voted as... More

Although the downtown itself is very beautiful in scenery, the types of buildings and the financial district, unfortunately, there seems to be a HUGE homeless population ranging from 18-35 years of age. They are all camped outside on the streets of downtown.

Shopping along Robson St was great. Many varieties, from high end to everyday offerings. While the traditional Black Friday super sale happens one month before Christmas, attracted huge crowds all over town. Some shops offer good discounts and certain brands do not offer any discount, yet attracting huge crowds, like the Canadian Goose down from Holt Renfrew. It's attracting large... More

Despite the homeless problem, the downtown core is very pretty and has lots of character. Plenty of shopping and something for everyone. I've been traveling to vancouver for years and the city is growing very fast. The city planners have done a very good job.

This is a great city for shopping / dining or just come and see the sites & sounds! Lot's of different things to do, so we had a weekend in town at one of the local hotels. This allowed us to go with a day pass on sky train to take in the town, even had time to go on... More

Vancouver has evolved into a great exciting and beautiful city. There is so much to see and do. Lots of different restaurants with tastes for everyone. You can be in the mountains in the morning and the beach in the afternoon.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
