It is a garden but also a little sanctuary to escape for a couple hours. By following the suggested "path", you can reflect on your own life journey. How great is that?

Japanese gardens are always a special experience. Everything is so intentional and calls ones' attention like in front of a work of art. The Nitobe garden is a short meander between shady paths, tranquil ponds, and light trickles of water. Pruning of trees and shrubs...More

Nitobe Memorial Garden is a must especially for lovers of gardens. It is a very well kept traditional Japanese Garden located at UBC. Your ticket will also get you into the UBC Botanical Gardens which is also a must to see.

I'm a gardener. I like gardens, but this garden goes beyond all of the others I've seen in Vancouver (even Van Dusen - which I also love!). Walk inside the gates and you are transported to Japan, amidst mature Maple trees, azaleas and copious moss...More

Although it is small, this garden lingers in your memory. At the entrance you are handed a one-page guide that suggests following a path through the garden and looking at it as a journey through life. I visited in April, so the cherry blossoms and...More

Nitobe gardens is very much in the UBC campus. It is a Japanese garden. It is pretty, not too big. Also has a tea-ceremony - I think you need to book in advance. Dr. Sun Yat-Sen is a Chinese garden that is free.
