A lovely area of the city, with architecture featured in several Hollywood movies. The Library itself is a draw, and the area around it-- especially in clement weather-- is beautiful.

I give walking tours of Vancouver for visitors and if we are touring downtown, the atrium and the library are one of the best spots to visit....as you walk up towards the atrium of the library from the corner of Homer and Robson Streets, you are drawn into the building and into the interior, there you discover a wonderful curved... I deliberately visited the library wanting to see how it would function in such an interesting building. There is forecourt that follows the curve of the building which has an excellent gift shop-see the socks and a small number of cafes. The outside hard areas are complimented by a cascading waterfall set below ground level.Nice to see a library designed outside the... The Library Square, on the edge of Yaletown, is only a few blocks from where I live and is a great place to visit for both locals and tourists. You can enjoy a coffee or soft drink on the Library steps and take in the view and or go inside to see the great books the Library holds. It is... More

Nice architecture but the library is a quite noisy. It can be messy at times. Sometimes it look like there are no librarians to keep the place organize.

Located on Georgia Street between Heart of Downtown and BC Place Stadium. Modern building with very unique architecture. You'd never guess that it is the main library. Outdoor plaza to rest a spell and several nice restaurants nearby.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
