Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As the name makes clear, this area is known for its spectacular sunsets, with the shimmering waters of English Bay helping the sun's last rays dance toward you.
But, lots to do in the daytime, too. Unless you are very energetic, and wish to continue to Stanley Park, I suggest you make this the end of your False Creek ramble, and return east. Before you do, 'though; shoes off and enjoy the sand (no evidence of dog stuff when I was there, thanks parks people), enjoy the view of Kits Point across the water, and marvel at the view to the west. Parking and snacks available, plus some interesting art which deserves its own "thing to do".

We spent a lot of time walking through this area as it is part of the walks along the waterfront. You really can see a good sunset from here when the weather conditions are right. A bit cool as a beach, except on a hot summer day. Lovely views.

It is so well located that it is hard to believe that you are only a couple of hundred metres from major roads and skyscrapers. It is a pleasant walk along the sand or a well made path. There are life guards on duty and it is a great place to view the sunset.

Perfectly named Sunset Beach is a wonderful place to watch the Sunset in Vancouver. Of course it is great beach to visit at all times of day. We have watched the Sunset while enjoying a nice bottle of wine. Many couples have enjoyed the Sunset here.

Another grotty Vancouver beach. This one seems less popular than English beach, but is also a good place from which to watch the sunset (and hence the name). Sand is dirty and water could be cleaner.

Here's a thing they won't tell you about sunset beach. FILLED WITH BUGS! I was so shocked to see the MILLIONS of cockroach looking bugs INFESTING the rocks along an otherwise gorgeous sunset beach-park path that I had to google them. Sea Cockroaches. And it further went on to say that while you tend to see them mostly around sunset climbing on rocks (yep) they live the majority of the day IN THE SAND. Think about that beach loungers. Glad I just planned to walk by and take in the sights because nothing ruins a beach vaca like roaches in your bathing suit.

Love the combination of wildlife (birds, seals, otters) people (every nationality and grouping you could imagine) scenery (beach, ocean, mountains, the Islands) - this is a great place to go for a stroll or a picnic. There is a dog friendly beach nearby for your pooch as well.

We didn't watch a sunset there, but it seemed to be an ok spot to watch sunset with waterfront in view…it was nice that they have logs to sit on to watch sunset.

Ah, Sunset Beach! As many other reviewers have stated, this beach is well-known for its spectacular sunsets. But that should hardly come as a surprise. Looking out towards Burrard inlet, the beach has the lovely West End neighbourhood as a backdrop. In the right environment, then, you can capture ships off in the distance; serene waters and rugged mountains; the gentle glow of the painted sun . . . all within the bosom of the West End. It’s little wonder many a local and tourist come here for a romantic moment. Add Venet’s 217.5 Arc x 13’ sculpture to the mix and you have the perfect photo-op.

As a beach, I’d say Sunset is pretty decent. It’s not as busy as nearby English Bay, though its proximity to False Creek can potentially making swimming an issue (boat traffic and water current). Still, this does not detract from the area’s calming and peaceful vibe. I don’t know why, but I think Venet’s interesting sculpture has a role to play here. To me, it looks like a bunch of whale ribs and yet, because of its rust-like colour, it somehow evokes a connection between humanity and the natural environment. In a less abstract way, the sculpture helps set Sunset Beach apart.

Now, it does need to be said: The name of this beach implies that it is THE place to capture nice sunsets – and you certainly can – but the same can also be done at English Bay Beach and, to a lesser extent, at Second and Third Beaches in Stanley Park.

PS: I think it’s kind of cute that Thomas V apparently enjoyed this beach so much that he’s written 5 of the more recent reviews ;)

This is a very beautiful part of town, linked to the rest of the West End by the wonderful walk along the waterfront. The walk takes you here to a real beach where you can take a dip in the cold water if you dare. The views are superb. Would be lovely to have an apartment with a view of this area.
