Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is Vancouver's largest and newest recreation facility so it's really surprising the change rooms are so bad - the women's anyway. The push-button showers only last nine seconds and they go from barely warm to scalding hot, which is a definite hazard to young children. There is no way to control the temperature. The floors in the change room are always covered in hairs and there is nowhere to apply make-up or do your hair in the event you need to go straight back to work or to an appointment. Everything else at Hillcrest is great, including the staff. Why they cheaped out on the showers and change rooms is beyond me. The showers in particular need to be improved, for safety if nothing else.

So, I have lived near here FOREVER. It took a foot injury to drag my older-than-I-want-it-to-be body in there early Saturday morning. I was flying solo, but I still had a good time. A woman who spoke no English showed me how to use the $.25 cents locks. (They'll be gone in May 2018, you'll need your own). The showers were hot. The pool water was warm. There is both stair and ramp access to the community part of the pool. The lazy river is more like a lazy circle, but grab a pool noodle and do it. Watch out for the show-off's walking against the current. (Probably good exercise). Use the water weights. Grab a ball and shoot a few hoops. Put your sore shoulders under the supersonic waterfalls. Go for a hot tub. Go for a sauna. Go for some steam. Wear your goggles. Wear your flip flops. Hey, there was even an elderly woman in a summer dress in the water. Don't let the non-fab body stop you. There are lanes available in a separate section for more serious swimmers. All in all my first experience was a really good one. Note the pool is closed for maintenance April 3-the end of the month.

We turned up at six in the morning and the place was already busy. Well laid out meant that fast swimmers were not frustrated by medium or slow speed swimmers. There was even a lane for those of us who were too slow for the slow lane. I would really recommend swimming here. The pool is beautiful and there are hot whirl pools surrounding it and the changing rooms are spotless

Built for the 2010 Olympics, this facility should have been designed better. The women's change room is very poorly designed with very little space to sit down, but a bag down, a towel or wet swimsuit. The showers are out of the 70's. Two of five showers have no overhead light, so you're showering in a very dimly lit place. You push a button for the water, but it sprays all over nearly drowning, burning, or freezing little kids and adults alike. You can't control the teperature or the time. My shower would shut off every 6-seconds! Little kids love the splash pool which has a gradually sloped easy entry and there's also a good lazy river run the little ones and the physically and mentally challenged really seem to like. The lanes in the length pool are so narrow and so even a few people sharing one lane are at risk of getting kicked by someone doing breaststroke, either in their own lane or in the adjacent lane. It's almost impossible to pass a slower swimmer because there isn't enough room if someone's coming the other way. Aquafit is good, but fills up to capacity too easily. They could add more sessions. And even with a pool pass, they make you wait in line at the front desk to get a wristband for aqaufit. This can be a 10-minute wait which is really inexcusable.

This is a super busy pool. Its over crowded and packed but it has the hottest tub to soak in, with good strong jets with lots of seating options. The hot tub also has a gradual entry walkway which makes it easy if you have knee issues. The areas are well designed to have many activities going at at the same time. It has a super kids area with a flow river to float on. It hosts a section to do deep water walking if you want that sort of exercise. Lanes, aquafit, kids pool, all this can go on at the same time. Just be ready for overcrowding and lots of hair in the changerooms, make sure you bring flip-flops as its pretty slippery and can get dirty fast.

We have been going to hillcrest for yrs. My little guy loves the teachers and the small personalized classes. We play in the kids pool before and after as well as a soak in the hot tub. Great place for kids and always quite clean.
Great in the winter, makes a cold rainy weekend so much better.

For a community center that's right in the middle of Vancouver, Hillcrest Park is absolutely deluxe. The Aquatic center features several pools, both indoor and outdoor, including one that's about four feet deep, a whirlpool, a hot-tub pool, a pool for swimming laps, diving boards at different heights, and occasionally a massive inflated dragon which kids can climb and slide down. The facility was built right after the winter Olympics and is modern and clean. There are plenty of lifeguards ensuring safety. And they even provide life vests for those without swimming skills. Admission is very reasonable. You do need to bring your own towels, though. Hillcrest is located right next to Nat Bailey stadium where Minor League baseball is played, so you could check the schedule and go swimming in the afternoon and catch a game in the evening. (Oh, and if you don't want to swim, the center also has two ice rinks with skate rental year round.)
