Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely love Victoria. Harbor view is to die for and drinks on outdoor patios are great. However, I really need to find the name of a very little shop on Wharf St. When you come off the Blue bridge on Johnston St, turn right and go past the little parking lot ( The one that goes downhill by wharf) and the very little shop is within the first 4 or 5 shops. It has jewellery, a small rack of clothes and a treasure trove of trinkets etc. It also had a small rack outside the door with loads of colored scarves. This shop is really small with a small fitting room in the back. It also had a very friendly sales lady. I found a beautiful dress but neglected to purchase it. Now I am back home and no one remembers the name of this shop. I was hoping someone living in Victoria could submit some names and pics of some of these shops. I have tried everything online but nothing works. If anyone can help, it would be so appreciated as I won't be back for my annual trip to this beautiful city till next year. Thanxxxx

Vendors, artists, buskers, sellers of varied goods and beautiful views of incoming harbor planes. Many restaurants to try and whale watching boats to take.

Definitely worth a walk down Wharf Street. It really has a carnival type atmosphere with street vendors selling all kinds of handmade articles. There are also a couple of food vendors who are worth a try.

A nice walk, with some wonderful views of the Inner Harbour.
Some nice shops, restaurants and bars here.
When the cruise ships are in port, we tend to stay away as it gets a bit busy then.

We enjoyed two establishments in particular on Wharf Street, The Local had great food and local beer (we liked the Hoynes Pilsner) . The Salmon wrap was great and so big we ate half and had the other half for dinner! We also enjoyed The Flying Pig, very nice bartenders, good food (loved the calamari), and a fun crowd.

Engaging views of the harbour and a chance to explore interesting shops and eateries... in the summer there are outdoor exhibits on the lower harbour walkway and a chance encounter with historic sailing ships... worthwhile and free...

Wharf Street has a lower waterside walkway & an upper roadside sidewalk. Be sure to walk both to get the full impact of everything there is to see & do. Starting at the world famous heritage Empress Hotel area you can see spectacular views of Victoria's busy inner harbour, the Parliament buildings, & a kaleidoscope of vivid coloured flowers hanging in baskets. The harbour is magical at night with all the twinkling lights shining on the water. It is delightful at sunset. People watching is great fun in this area. There are many photo opportunities.
The Victoria Tourist Information Center is across the street from the Empress Hotel. Drop in & talk to the knowledgeable staff. If, you have a hankering for seafood you could eat at Red Fish Blue Fish, Victoria's outdoor downtown seafood restaurant, Nautical Nellies Steak & Seafood Restaurant or the Oyster Bar Flying Otter Grill which is built right over the bay. Shima Village Japanese Restaurant is a good stop for sushi.
If, you are looking for luxury accommodation right on the water, try the Victoria Regent Hotel. If, you prefer a heritage hotel a good choice would be Swans Suite Hotel. Of course, the Empress Hotel is available for a price.:)
Buskers entertain the tourists & locals, year round. Shopping areas such as Chinatown, LOJO (Lower Johnston street), & Bastion Square are along the way.
By walking the lower walkway along the water, one way & the roadside sidewalk, the other & you will see it all!

Great place to spend some time: people watching, looking for a place to eat/or have a drink, enjoy the harbour, or check out the variety of shops. Well groomed gardens and our door entertainment on the weekend ensures a good time.

The inner harbour is one of the most quaint areas of the city, full of vibrant businesses and the wharf street is great. The area in front of the Empress is the best and down on the lower area is where wonderful artisans sell their wares. If you are in Victoria you need at least a day to enjoy this area.
