We live right near this park, so we absolutely love the proximity to home, as well as the view from the top. The first part of the hike is very easy, with wide easily marked trails. It is appropriate for any fitness level. About halfway up, however, there is a definite increase in incline and the footpath becomes more narrow... More

We are retired and not in bad shape but have some mobility issues. Reading online in advance, found it was described as a moderate climb: yes, there are areas of considerably unstable rock underfoot on the trail, especially unsafe along some of the steep corners. Not good for a wet day. It was dry for us so we just had... More

This is one of my favourite Victoria hikes. Its a very nice view from the top, much better than other hills in the area I think. It takes a good amount of time to go up and explore and come back down without being a full day commitment.

I've lived in Victoria for 10 years and never heard about this hike. Found it through Tripadvisor, and it is a hidden gem. It's quiet, I didn't encounter more than 3 people on the trail. It is mostly uphill but didn't take more than 20-30 mins to get to the top. Took more time to come down to avoid slipping... More

Just got home from a short (2km) hike up Lone Tree Hill. Round trip took about 40 min (with another 20 min at the summit). The trail is even for the most part, very well marked with a few roots/rocks/tripping hazards along the way. The view is spectacular, you can see downtown Victoria, the ocean, the hills of the Malahat... More

It has been a couple years since I made the trek up to the summit of this secluded little piece of natural beauty the CRD call Lone Tree Hill. It is a good climb but can be made in about 30 – 45 minutes and that even includes taking some stops at the many lookouts along the way. The summit... More

Steep enough to be a challenge: go faster if you're uber fit. Short enough not to tire you out too much to enjoy the view. Stay a while, let the dog play, have a picnic. It is a spectacular and vast view. I usually combine this trail with taking the dog to one or two other places along the way... More

I go up there several times a year, and it's great to get a 360 degree view of the Highlands and beyond. (By the way, Trip Advisor's requirement that I give my visit a SINGLE date is plain stupid. I hike some places in the Victoria area several times a week.)

Awesome views with a 360 degree panorama, great ridge walk along the top of this hill. The climb was well worth it.
